Say hello to Iain Banks and Ken Macleod for me.

South Queensferry - fame at last.
Prolific SF writers

Iain M. Banks

Ken's books tend to be written in the not too distant future, whereas Iain's books are thousands of years in the future.
Both are well worth the effort to read.

The reason I have a Rs4 is because I spent 5 hours stuck in a BMW 335D during the snow of xmas 2009

Yes I maybe I should have had a LSD & winter tyres fitted for £3k (Tyres have been a revelation on the GTI) ,

but to be honest I'd had enough of that dull dull dull engine/auto.. even with the remap to 350hp525torques.

I thought Id miss the 42mpg it did over 42k miles
The main thing I miss is the DAB radio and the Logic 7 sound system....says a lot about the engine

Ahhhh karma strikes again, frickin BMW drivers.

I was laughing at a neighbour on Saturday who got stuck trying to get his 318i on his drive by putting carpet under the front wheels while flooring it in first. Luckily he didn't get traction cause he would of hit his garage at about 30mph. After watching for a couple of minutes I wiped the tears I did go and help as he was blocking the road.

Come home tonight and the ice on our road has got really bad but all the cars have been driving on the same tracks so nice cut outs down to the Tarmac so quite easy to drive on. I go to turn into our road and because the same guy can't get his beemer onto the drive he parks right on the corner on the tracks. Its a pretty tight corner and as I have to go round him I hit the ice, back end loses traction and slides straight into the curb.

Car only slid about 6 inches but hit the rim side on and bumped up the curb resulting in about 5 inches of damage. If there was more space I know I could have straightened it up but it was so tight cause of how he parked there was no chance.

Curb 1 alloy 0

Decided to get back out on the main road and take it for a drive and luckily there were no knocks or wobbles so hopefully it's just the rim thats damaged.

Luckily for him he wasn't in when I knocked the door to tell him what a stupid place it was he had parked in as I wasn't in a good mood.
