Replace front RS4 sidelights howto?

I went to swap my sidelight bulbs today with some CANBUS LED replacements but failed miserably due to (a) lack of space (b) phat fingers on my part and (c) being too cautious and not wanting to damage anything.

According to Elsaweb : http://elsaweb.spaghetticoder.org/doc/A ... 30711548/3 they should just pull out, but no amount of poking, prodding and pulling resulted in me getting the bulb out from the headlight unit.

Has anyone swapped these themselves? Any tips? or should I just trust Elsaweb and get a pair of 45 degree thin nose pliers and tug on the holder - I just don't want to break anything on my new car - It sure is packed under the bonnet!

Advise appreciated! As for the front turn indicator bulbs - looks a bloody nightmare and I might leave that to Audi when the car goes in for a replacement gear shift [as mine is cosmetically damaged at the top 'knob' fnarr fnarr!]

Yep just pull out! Changing DRL's now that's abit trickier.

Can't rememebr if its pull or twist but if Elsaweb and Madmonkee both say pull the pull it is.

I'm pretty sure the DRLs were twist though. you just got to suck it up and ram your hand in there and leave the skin behind.

Whilst changing the DRL I constantly pulled out the sidelight bulb, it has tapered retaining tabs on there iirc. Try to pull it out square or you will just catch the tab. Try to insert img... [img]http://i.ebayimg.com/t/501-Replacement- ... ~60_35.JPG[\IMG]

Oh, DRL's save your skin and use a 22mm spanner like a screwdriver on the bulb holder to undo and refix, look at the bulb through the lense you can figure out which way to rotate and how much.

Ahh I see! It's funny - I found the DRL's pretty easy to change but the sidelights impossible - I'll take a look at the sidelights again one night when the weather clears a bit - I'm just gonna tug it out from the HL unit trying to use the bulb holder you showed. for that.
