Things to look out for when buying a B7 RS4
Re: Things to look out for when buying a B7 RS4
I forgot to mention about the tyres. Never a good sign when a car like that has cheap tyres. To me it shows that perhaps the previous owner couldnt afford to spend the money it needed on it and other things may have been scrimped on. Not saying that everyone thathas cheap tyres doesnt look after their cars but I'd just be wary of it. It's also something I'd want to replace straight away so £500-£1k spent straightaway.
That Avant diesnt look sprint blue to me. Also looks like an aftermarket exhaust to me.

The black saloon: that's the factory phone cradle base. Good if you have an iPhone 3/4, bad for everything else. Charges and boosts the aerial. The phone still works through Bluetooth. If the rest of the car suits you then buy a replacement central console and swap it out for very little money.
I'm surprised how tasteful the aluminium around the gear knob works with the steering wheel. I always assumed carbon was the way to go.

Re: the blue avant: I bet it's sprint blue just coming out weird under fluorescent lighting. Looks nice that way!

I used the same approach. One car I went to see even had different brands across an axle. Think they must have been testing as many tyres as they couldstu wrote:Re: tyres, Mike: very insightful.
Ended up being the first thing I checked when seeing cars.

The problem with traders is that most don't give proper or full descriptions of the car, don't know what features were factory-fitted or optional and call bucket seats Recaros!
As others have said, I'd be a little wary of the black one on Nankangs; a pal of mine had them on his TT and said they were downright lethal, especially in rain! He changed them after 3 weeks. The sprint blue Avant looks nice and the price looks reasonable for its age/spec IMO. You'll probably get it for £21k.

Things to look out for when buying a B7 RS4
Bit worried about the observation about the tyres and front discs.Dom81 wrote:Doesn't look too bad, as others have said. Quick observations -
The privacy isn't factory fitted - it was only an option on the avant, and much darker (plus rears only)
Nankang tyres (which I'd never heard of) appear to have poor to rubbish reviews
Nasty phone cradle, and Alu interior not to everyone's taste
No Auto Dim / Light / Rain option
Front disks look to have a sizeable lip

I do however like the look and comments of Nick's B7.

The Blue Avant looks the best of the two - think it it Sprint blue, just the lighting and poor camera (the inside pics look dark as well) ther than that i would say the original owner chose exclusive colour and went Noggy Blue in keeping with the B5 RS4.
The black one just has to many question marks for me - tyres, after market black optics, its all to black for me as well.

Re: Things to look out for when buying a B7 RS4
If the black RS4 has a proper black optic convention then that is good as to get that done at a dealership is around £1500. However it was only a £250 option irrc, like all option are cheaper than to after market fit them.
