That all sounds the muts nuts to have, didn’t realise mine didn’t have auto dim rear view mirror for the first week i owned it. Then wondered why i was being blinded all the time, couldn’t believe it was an option on such an expense car when new. (even wifes corsa has it) I Looked into a retro fit but don’t think it would be very cost effective.

Out of interest, my NS mirror dips on reverse to show the kerb (as with my previous Audis) but I've always had memory seats & mirrors. Is this standard to all, or is it only enabled with memory?

Only with the memory seat option.

Had my '57 reg Avant since June 2009, upgrading from my '07 reg S4 saloon which I bought new so it was spec'd as I wanted. Looked for months for the right car (had to have comfort seats and a silver roof lining). The Avus one I bought just happened to have the black optics pack, which I'm really pleased about now as I think it compliments it well ( and no tarnished trims!) The only option I had on the S4 which I miss and if it wasn't too much of a hassle to retrofit was the leaving home / coming home function with the auto lights. But that's a small price to pay for such an iconic and stunning car!!

In my Googling on these cars, I believe that's straightforward to retrofit...

Thanks Dave. Seems a bit tight not to include at least that part as standard - there would be no need for any additional controls (it just activates based on reverse switch and position of mirror selector) and it can't cost much for a module to remember return mirror angle...

Doesn't it involve replacing the windscreen to accommodate the sensor, a new rear view mirror with sensor and a new light switch for the auto lights position - that is assuming the necessary additional wiring is already in the car? Or is the sensor on the windscreen behind the mirror just a rain sensor for auto wipers...? This question isn't really about this poll though, sorry!
