Wanted - B7 RS4 06/ 07

Post by Markmyatt7 » Sat Jan 12, 2013 8:12 pm

I have wanted an B7 RS4 since they were first introduced. only now can I afford one. I have waited patiently for a long time so as you can imagine I want the right one. Preferably Sprint Blue, low mileage and few owners. I am debating between an Avant or Saloon but open to ideas. Car must be in absolutely mint condition with good spec and at right price.

Cheers mate - I'm in no rush to find one as long as its the right one. I remember seeing one in the local Audi showroom when they first came out - I thought then "if only I had £55000 on me" ha

Has to be an Avant.

And we'll worth seeking out a good one. There are some pups out there and you'll spot the difference between one and a good car very easily.

I am leaning towards an Avant as have a family now. Trying to justify Tax and fuel economy to the misses is hard work. Insurance not a problem as been driving for 19 years without an accident and 19 yrs worth of no claims (insurance company usually only allow 5 though). Best quote so far is around £500 fully comp.

I wouldn't try and justify tax and fuel economy to the Mrs. It would be hard to do even with a Mrs who understands man maths on a car like this :)

Is she clued up enough on cars to know what the tax and fuel economy are likely to be?

Also, there's not a massive amount of room in the back of these if you're above average height and have the bucket seats (you have to have those :)).

Just driven home in the one I collected yesterday - 200 miles. Great, great car!

Luckily we are not tall we're average height. I've had a BMW for last few years and loved it but just don't like the rear wheel drive and run flat tyres. Was considering an M3 but RS4 is always pulling me back.

Seems to be a steady flow of cars being offered for sale. But if you're picky on colour and other spec, and especially condition, there won't be many at any one time. I think the key is the slightly contradictory "don't rush until you see a good one. Then pull the trigger quickly".

Forum cars are worth paying close attention to as I suspect are likely to be enthusiast owned (buy the seller not the car etc).

Have a good read on here and then go and look at a few. It's easy to spot a good one from the tat.

:nodder: You comment on convincing the misses about tax & fuel economy made me smile - I had the same conversation with mine and she couldn't believe that I was not buying a "cheaper" car to run than our 2.0TDI Sline 170. I tried to explain that it was a sports car but it didn't sink in! I didn't approach the fuel consumption [She'd probably have kittens!!]. Oh by the way, a very good but very naive neighbour of mine said "why don't you convert it to run on LPG" :bash: I politely said it was not compatible....

I pick up my RS4 Avant tomorrow after looking for two months, I can thoroughly recommend that you get one if you can from a a board member - the cars I saw outside of the board where either overpriced or not loved at all or quiet expensive. FYI There is Mugello Blue one at Belmont motors for £22450 - I reckon it's worth £20k and it needs some TLC [seats poor, missing carbon from engine bay] also does not have much paper work and I was worried about the discs but if you are good with spanners, then It might be for you.

Good luck with the search.

Kev.

Thank you for the advice - it's hard to know what's good and at he right price as everyone is going to say their B7 is in A1 condition.
