After Run Pump

Post by gavsteryoung » Mon Sep 27, 2004 10:27 am

Dont know if you guys remember my mad panic before I went on holiday. My auxilary water pump sprung a leak. Well the Barrs fluid lasted about 2500 miles, but now it given up the ghost again and is now leaking with some passion!....

East Kent Audi have just quoted me about £300+Vat to supply and Fit.... (im out of warrenty) does this sound excessive?

Or should I make a trip to QST..... there about 175mile round trip from me!

Your advice is appricated?

That wouldn't surprise me. Typical dealer labour rates are quite high and the pump must cost over £100. If the fitting includes draining and refilling the system (likely) then it'll be a few hours work.

Well the guy at Audi quoted £75 for the pump + 3hours labour so thats £75per hour.

Phoned QST and they reckon 4 hours labour which works out at the same cost.

Think I will stick with Audi as they will pick my car up from my work!
