Anyone had any experience of using a non Audi warranty for a issue with their car. Im about to renew my warranty, and had thought I *may* get a better response when theres a warranty issue if I'd also bought the warranty form the audi dealer im currently using for servicing/warranty work etc. (Not that Ive had any issues with them at all so far with regards warranty issues).
Everyone is unique, just like you and me.
Re: Extended Warranty
Alright Chaps.
Just got the extended warranty quote through from Audi for my motor (had 1 year on it when bought from audi). They are quoting £750 for the 15000 mile limited warranty with £250 excess (anything worth claiming for would always be way above this).
To be honest i'm a big warranty sceptic, too many loop holes, having said that at only £750 it seems worth the gamble. Car is 57 plate on 39k miles.
How have folk found the experience of having the warranty? Last post in this thread was in 2009 so there must be some more experience out there now.
Valuable asset or not worth the paper its printed on?

Re: Extended Warranty
I just don't do warranty - there's too much 'wiggle room' for my liking. I put the money to one side for when/if anything happens. I have 'eventuality' plans such as I know the exact clutch/flywheel that I'll fit should it go and I know the cost and the people who'll fit it. I have plans for the suspension too. I almost look forward to something going wrong so I can upgrade! I know I have the money there ready to go because my car's warranty ran out in 2009 and so I've got a couple of grand on standby.
I just think that if I have a warranty and something goes wrong and they don't pay up it would make me mad. Just seen you're from Aberdeen Chris - I be more worried about the car getting stolen what with the levels of car theft up there right now! Saying the above though - it's only £750 for 15,000 miles of 'care free' motoring. It's how you feel about it that counts mate - if it's makes you less stressed then do it.
I still drive the car like it should be driven

Re: Extended Warranty
I took out the extended cover (2nd year I'd renewed) and at my MOT last November it was discovered that the front two shocks where weeping (car has done just 25.5k in its 5 year)
Replacement/fitting of the parts was quoted at £950, as it happened some further additional items to the value of £870 where needed
So I was glad to have had the warranty
And will prob renew it in April

Re: Extended Warranty
I think for £750 it's worth it for the piece of mind.It cost me £1250 for the R8, I thought it would be a good selling point to try and sell it privately but I ended up trading it, you get a pro-rata refund if you sell within the warranty period.
Extended Warranty
Defo extend
The Audi branded warranty is the best on the market and whilst not quite bomb proof its close
You also get Audi roadside assist.

Re: Extended Warranty
At £750 i would probably do it - i took out indy 2 year warranty when i bought my car for £700 already had more than that paid out with 4 Parking sensors packing up and new Vacumn valve on the airbox.
If they also cough up for the nackered fly wheel i just had replaced im well quids in. Although mine doesnt cover hoses or pipes so i had to pay for the Clutch return pipe to be replaced, and it wouldnt cover me for the oil pipes if they went.
Propably worth checking what your Audi one covers, then weigh up if you think its worth it.
Also bear in mind that Rs4Martin has just had a con rod go - wouldnt want that without a warranty.
