Dents in roof.

Post by mavada » Thu Jan 03, 2013 2:04 pm

Just noticed ive got some slight dents in my roof. some human/alien/animal decided to walk over my roof. the dent(s) are spread over a wide area.
i know the metal is very thin (remember its easy to get it moving when washing it...). i hope it can be repaired without replacing the whole roof...
Anyone heard of a roof replacement before? i know its available in ETKA but lets hope it can be sorted without replacement. it didnt left scratches, weird... :(

Will shoot a video of it cos on pic it isnt that good visible.

My friend had this on his BMW bonnet and roof, loads of little dings which were only visible when looking down the paint. Turned out a hailstorm caused it!

Paintless dent removal. Will be easy on the roof. Had some dents removed on mine recently. You can't tell it was ever dented afterwards.

It is good, I had my passenger door done, and you'd never know. I know it is a thicker grade of metal compared to the roof skin, but it is worth a try.

And as chunk said, if you remove the roof liner yourself that will save a few pennies too. Plus you know it's been out back correctly!

For most of the work on mine, the bloke didn't have to take any trim off. True, it's easier to push a dent out than pull it, but I would be very wary about the rooflining going back in exactly the right place. Seen too many cars with creases and ill-fitting roof lining to want to take mine off;

Here's a pic of him doing my car, pulling the dents out:

I saw one place about my dents and they can stick stuiff and tug it out. That only tends to work for more shallow dents. Mine will need a respray though to get them perfect.
