You can bounce the rs4 off the limiter and in manual it won't kick down unless you press the pedal past the floor and into the last 'kick down' clck which will take it down to the lowest available gear

Question though - you say that the 'box really does hold gears in manual mode? - my experience of all DC boxes up to now (including Porsche PDKs) is that they will override the manually selected gear if taken to the limiter, and will also kick down in manaul if the pedal's mashed right into the carpet. But I think I'd read somewhere that the RS3 will genuinely hold gears too, so just wondering if this is really the case, because if so, it's quite a departure from DC 'box convention. Interested to hear your thoughts?
This is true and really annoys me about our Porsche but the RS5 I had on long term loan does not change up and it is also more reluctant to change down than the porker too
Currently :
Porsche 992S
Porsche Cayenne GTS
Porsche GT4 RS
Lotus Exige V6 ( tuned to c430bhp)
Seat Ibiza excellence Lux!
1987 Porsche 928S4
1967 Jaaag Mk2 3.4

Ex
2017 AMG E class wagon
2012 Audi RS4 (B8)
2012 Porsche Boxster S (981)

I can understand why Porsche do it though as having the car bouncing off the limiter (which is effectively forcing a misfire) sends all sorts of imbalances through the engine at very high revs and would wear it quite badly if left for any prolonged period
It'd be nice just to have a couple of blasts of the limiter to remind you it's there, and then force an up shift

Boom!
Putting looks and V8 soundtrack aside, the MRC S4 is a match in every single to the RS 4, yet £20-30k cheaper....no brainer

Haha I meant a B8 S4 with MRC and Supersprint tweaks..... :s4addict:

EDIT - You mean Graham as in SRS admin with his silver DSG S4, not opening poster Graham here ordering an RS4 V8. Nah it would HAVE to be a manual, it would HAVE to be estate shaped, and it would HAVE to have the sport diff'

Fair play to you guys ordering RS4s, some of you are spending more on options than I spent on my S4 outright!

Some of those options are silly money ;
Buckets with exclusive leather is best part of £6,000

Half what I paid for my S4!

I'm in no position to buy a B8 S4 right now. I need to behave and be sensible, so earlier this year I locked all my spare cash away in a two year bond to stop me buying any more cars hahaha!! Don't stop me window shopping though....
