i think there's a lot of guys out here not using it as a daily. so most likely they'll be driving it in a different way as it is more of a toy.
mine is a daily with a daily commute of just over 30mls. about 250ish to a tank. about 300-320mls on a long run. i'll let you know after xmas, cause we're driving to holland. i think thats about 1600mls roundtrip!
But to be really honest, if you are worrying about the fuel cost when buying an RS4, then better not get one i think. Better have a read about other items like brakes and tyres and see the cost of them as well.

Have to agree with above , 22 on a motorway 80-90 mph ,round town 16 mpg u can't sit on the inside lane looking like your saving the pennies in a 20k + car, discs pads on front £1100 ish ,tyres £200+ , they are not cheap motors to run but you are driving a proper sports car!

Usually 225-250 miles which is normal town driving, with the odd highway bit.

'Tank' to me is about 60 litres. Sometimes I get 62 and some change in, but usually I refill at 60-61. The tank is supposedly around 64 litres, but I never get to use that last little bit, even the time I ran out of gas. When I ran out, I got 5 litres in from a can, then 58 litres in from the pump...so 63.
This was my best tank. I had reset the trip odometer at fillup, and reset #2 average MPG computer in DIS (THAT IS US MILES PER GALLON = 0.83 Imperial MPG)

Best ever was 345 miles with probably another 10 miles in the tank.

You ran out but could only fit 63 litres in? Strange. PG mentioned he'd fitted something like 70 litres in a while back. I've got a [full] fuel can in the boot, Friday night the pump clicked at something like 65.7 litres, I kept clicking until I got 66.00 (which is what the book quotes) which was a record fill for me.
345 miles is amazing btw - my record so far is 328 - I gather the FSI RS4 is slighty better on fuel!

Anyone ever find the pump clicks like a b*stard to start with when the tank is completely empty? I struggled Friday during aforementioned fill up, took the nozzle out, stuck my fingers inside the air vent which seemed to do the trick, it didn't click from 2 litres right through to 65

Yes I actually ended up with the nozzle in at 90 degrees the other night, seemed to do the trick.

I p/x'd my 335i M Sport Touring for my RS4 earlier this month. I wondered if I'd done the right thing as the 335i was the best car that I had owned. Fast when you wanted it to be, but an easy drive in traffic, 25 mpg average, no expenses apart from run flats at about £260 - £300 each for the rear, and oil. The RS4 has grown on me despite an intial problem that a new clutch pedal switch solved. Average mpg is maybe 20-22 on my daily commute but I wouldn't want to go back to a 335i. The RS4 feels special in a way that makes the 335i feel like an ordinary car, which it isn't. I can't imagine a 335d being any different. And the sound of that V8 is addictive. In petrol stations and car parks I find myself pressing the sport button and winding down the window to listen to it. Pedalling the metal at low revs and listening to the engine note changing as the revs climb is another source of entertainment.That's the sort of thing this car does to you. I did worry about mpg at first but it's an RS4 and worth it.

I came from similar, had performance cars for many years and in an attempt to be sensible got a 535d sport touring, similar mpg as above and right now in mine I get about 14mpg around town and thats not going much above 3000 revs but then in the evening or weeksends take it for a longer run. I have also driven the M5 but there is something very special being in this RS4 cockpit alone that made me wonder why I even went for the 535, even without turning the engine on you feel your are in the right place, and when that engine turns on and you can get to play with the car it is just beautiful
As mentioned I do mainly town driving and the last tank got me about 170 on the tank, this one is at 3/4 full (and it filled up 64 litres) it is at around 30 miles. It seems a bit low even for an RS4 but in the new year I will take it to Doug for a exhaust and remap and most probably a decoke....I was all about mpg as for the last 15 years I have had a petrol card from work and so all my previous cars have been well fed. For the past 2 years after the petrol card went and I started a new company it was all about saving money and looking at the mpg, and even now it is but being in this car is what I enjoy and what will push me forward.. and as above the 335/535 etc are great cars and had plenty of power but they to me are cars fitting their purpose whereas these cars are about passion and make you look forward to getting behind that wheel again!! see now I have made myself want to go for a drive again!
