Dealer C7 RS6 Confirmation!!

Post by W8PMC » Tue Dec 04, 2012 11:12 am

Had a call yesterday from my local Audi Dealer who'd just got back from a show & tell in Germany & the C7 RS6 is confirmed by Audi as being a higher tuned version of the V8T in the new S6/7/8. They were told power is on a par with the C6, however with better engine management & torque, it will be significantly quicker with a sub 4.0sec to 62.

At the same event Audi announced & showed an RS7 so i guess the RS6 will this time be Avant only as with the B8 RS4 & the RS7 will be for those who don't like/need to carry coffins around.

They also presented some new models with the recently introduced Bi-Turbo diesel engine which i'm told will liven the range up.

Popped a speculative place holder on the RS6 dependant on their being a Saloon & if it's available around the time i hand back my current A8. If not then looking likely to be a new S8 or S6.

Avant a complete no no Paul? In isolation the S6 appears to be an absolute stonker - thanks again for your review - but the RS6 will no doubt be everything turned up to 11

New RS6 is 4.0 V8 BiTurbo
570ps 700nm

At the moment, avant only.

Saw it and the 7 on Saturday. (I was there too)

And will be north of 100k when spec'd. That's nearly r8 money, different horses but I think I'd be looking toward r8.

Thoughts on how this might compare to the RS7?

I'd expect RS7 to be similar money, maybe slightly more on basic price.

I could go for an Avant, but kind of depends what SWMBO buys. She still fancies a TTRS so if she went that route we'd need something with space for the dog etc. so an Avant may work, however i'd still likely save £30K & get the new S6 in Avant form. Personally i get fast estates but not rocket ship estates (if that makes sense). In an RS i'd want to go play on track & a load lugger would look wrong & be far too heavy.

Got only knows what the new RS would perform like when mated to this new V8T & with an S-tronic box, bound to be a real giggle.

Stoo, did you get to drive the new RS's? Please provide a better insight as to what we can expect?

The S6 does seem to be a bargain, yes the options list is huge but its well specced as standard, and there are already several 'demos' with toys for sale at Audi for well under list of a standard one

:bash:

going by the last two iterations and how they have faired in the depreciation stakes I'd say they are so far from a bargain as a new or nearly new proposition its untrue

as a 3yr old car ... yes bargain

True say.
I bought a 2 yr old S6 V10 back in the day for a third of the original list price !
They have always faired badly once the RS6 has been released.

Nobody drove them.

But the 7 was white.
The 6 was red.

They had 'quattro' in the lower grille.

That's about all.... ;)

Haha yeah I know what you mean. With the present S6 coming out much earlier in the chassis lifecycle, it having half decent fuel consumption and it being a complete gem (whereas the last S6 was arguably the worst S / RS product ever) I wonder if the depreciation will be as horrific as before? I mean you can spend 50k on a diesel A6 nowdays! Don't get me wrong, I'd love it to depreciate vertically like the V10 did so I can buy one in a few years, but surely you won't be able to buy a summer 2012 '12' plate for 20k in summer 2014? That WOULD indeed be a frickin' bargain!
