Alright guys,
I'm new to the forum and am looking at buying a b5 rs4.
Can you guys give me some pointers on what to look out for/ common faults etc?
Cheers

What to look out for?
Re: What to look out for?
There are a few major things to look out for,
Brakes can be expensive so make sure they are in good order.
Camshafts do wear so check history to see if they have been replaced or recently inspected.
Turbos do fail so worth checking for smoke on a test drive, check history for change/rebuild
Clutch can be a weak point.
Gearbox (early ones) can have wear problems 1st-2nd syncro.
Oil cooler pipes will be worth inspecting to make sure they are not corroding where they join the oil cooler.
Make sure you have access to vag-com so you can check for codes such as egt's, lambdas etc
Check tyres as they are expensive to replace
If possible have the car inspected by a specialist such as jjb motors, mrc, unit 20, bahnstorm etc
