What to choose Q7 or X5
My mate has been asking me n few others what he should choose, Q7 or X5.
I say Q7 but if hes got money to spend then maybe an RS4 would be ideal!
Whats peoples thoughts?

If you've got a gaggle of kids to carry around then as a seven seater it fits the bill. V12 is a monster. 3.0 diesel is crap.
Can't be doing the X family.
I'd be doing Cayenne or RR.

X5. Was in a X5 and Q7 last weekend and preferred the X, the Q7 is so ugly.

The Q7 but only for the 4.2 V8. Otherwise get an estate.

Re: What to choose Q7 or X5
As an ex-Q7 3.0tdi owner (oops my sordid secret is now out in the open).....let's see.
Great drive
too big for UK car-parking spaces
Bloody comfortable - easy to get in & out.
- not very pretty
Excellent on the Devil's Brew
- difficult to park
Polarises opinion
People variously congratulated me on my choice/called me a <beep>(even when courteously giving way to them at a pinch-point/a woman mouthed "wanker" at me when again courteously giving way at the same pinch-point. I hope by now you understand that I'm a courteous road user as there are too many budding Kenneth Noye's out there for my liking. Now, I'm not one to normally cave in to negativity, but I felt that it was only a matter of time before some eco-warrior keyed it.
Summing up, I'd say if you can live with the looks, go for it. The 3.0TDi is fast enough and economical.
If you can live with the opprobrium - then got for it. As an ex-owner, I could recommend it.
Would I buy another - NO - go for a Q5 instead.
X5 - better looking - no doubt - driven by cocks (sorry 535DBoy.....)

What to choose Q7 or X5
Had a 2010 Disco HSE
7 x LR assistance breakdowns in as many months - failed to start
Excessive clouds of blue smoke - new turbos - fault never cured - got shut
Lovely car - wouldn't have another
God knows how much the repairs would have cost out of warranty
X5 or New Cayenne
Q7 looks a bit like an A6 on stilts

I ran a Q7 and X5 in 2008 alongside each other when our TT was delayed for 6 weeks.
For comfort q7, everything else X5
Is far too big and made me laugh when my mrs parked next to somebody in a multi story car park and it takes up so much space that the people next us couldn't get out and drive off to another space!
Don't worry I'll be joining all you cock driving (according to clarkson) Audi drivers in a few weeks!
