There's understated, and then there's boring. I think the latter most definitely applies here. Show that to Joe Bloggs and he wouldn't for one minute guess the performance capabilities of the car, but maybe that's what Audi want? Far too much that way for me, and I'm a fan of understatement!
As this week's Autocar pointed out, it certainly looks less aggressive than the B6, and from the rear view, I dunno, it just doesn't seem to sit on the road and hint that it means business at all. Reminiscent of US and Aussie Fords and the like.....
I quite like the big solid sides sweeping down enveloping the front grill, but the lights make the car look like it's smiling gay-ly, and the single plastic ridge running through the fog lights looks so tame (and usually it's the design of the fog light area on a performance car that gives it it's aggressiveness).
Four exhausts = good, but they look too puny, and the rear light cluster......yuk. Hyundai anyone?

@ Pete.S Interesting analysis of the visual language of the new car. For me the biggest aesthetic crime is that crease line along the haunches (all down the side of the car). B6 looked gorgeous in that area - hewn from a single piece of metal - but this is just fussy.
Slabby back end is nasty too, but better on the Avant.
Cheers, Richard (in Florida on a work trip, hoping Hurricane Ivan is going to miss us)
