DRC replacement costs

Post by Apowers » Mon Nov 05, 2012 12:03 am

Looking at getting into an RS4 avant soon, reading up on the posts here but cant find any specific costs associated with replacement costs (outside of Audi Warranty)?

I have a figure of about £1k per corner in mind, is that about right?

Not directly to your question but Audi will continue to offer a goodwill payment towards DRC. Before it was the totl cost of parts & labour but now it's just a contribution.

Had an OSF shock replaced a couple of weeks ago & paid £400, should've come upto £800 odd

Cost also depends if the accumulator needs replacing too. This can happen if you drive with it knocking for too long. I was £1580 for one shock and the accumulator from the stealer a year ago.

There's plenty of debate regarding coilovers, myself and many others regard DRC as one of the factors that make the B7 a great car.

DRC was replaced on my car by Sheffield Audi on all four corners about a month ago. I bought it from a local indie dealer who agreed to have a standard Audi visual inspection carried out as a condition of purchase. DRC problem was identified when the system was tested and failed to repressurize. Total cost was £1700. Very glad I had the inspection done!

Decent set of coils KW, Bilstein, H and R would be my recommendation budget about £1500 + fitting, adjustable ride height and damping /rebound control (on some shocks) and vastly improved handling (in my opinion.)

It all depends on how much needs to be changed . I've never had to replace a full system .

Shocks are about £200 + vat each , the hoses are £105 + vat per corner ...

The expensive item is the valve block, as has already been said, if you catch the problem early so that only the shock absorbers need replacing it's MUCH cheaper.

I had both front shocks replaced 2 years ago by Portsmouth Audi under the 5 year goodwill scheme, so that didn't cost me a penny. But a few months ago the OSR shock failed and even though I only drove around 10 miles after hearing the first rattling sound the valve block needed replacing so I ended up with a bill of nearly £1500 from Southampton Audi.
