Rear brake discs

Post by BillTheButcher » Tue Oct 30, 2012 10:26 am

I've been looking around the web for parts suppliers and there seem to be two types of rear brake disc listed for the RS6.

The first is this one:
http://www.gsfcarparts.com/603vg0700
£252.00.

The second is this one:
http://www.gsfcarparts.com/603vg0022
£23.40.

Now I can see from the info that the second one has completely different dimensions and it's solid rather than vented; it looks like it's not even suitable for the RS6. If that's true why do so many supplier sites list both when searching for discs for an RS6. :?

The disc in the second link isn't the right one, must be for another Audi model.

Thanks Amar. That seems to be the case, even though I searched by registration. :|

Are there any alternatives to the OEM discs or are they as good as you can get?

Check Euro Car Parts and use the SRS discount code.

Nope, I went genuine Audi. Not going to go OE again.

They're showing one of each pair of drilled and non-drilled in stock. Useful.

Cheers for the heads-up on the discount code Amar. Didn't know about that. 8)

Are you looking for plain or drilled? I might be able to help.

Hello Rob. :)

I try not to brake late or hard so plain would probably be more than adequate especially for the rears.

Unless anyone who knows more than I do can give me a reason why I should go for drilled...

No, I prefer plain. The only reason you would put drilled on the rears is for aesthetics.

Thanks.

Would you put drilled on the fronts?

No, I would prefer plains. But I don't have the choice with the C6 brakes.

Thanks. :)

I *think* I've got drilled fronts on the E55 but I really don't know. I haven't looked that closely.

I have no preference either way; as I said I try not to brake hard or late so I was thinking that the drilled ones would probably be wasted on me.
