1K for just the cores without the carbon shrouds...that's a reasonable price. Especially when you put a wagner core next to the OEM you see where the money went.

I wouldn't spend money on race cats, the stock main cats flow pretty well, it's only the precats that are in the way and those are easy enough to remove. Once done you get about the same sound and performance you'd get from the expensive aftermarket downpipes. I have gutted precats and when I look at dyno'd numbers there doesn't seem to be a difference with those who upgraded to "racecats".

What you need to pressure test your intercoolers is a fairly chunky pushbike inner tube, large enough when its cut
to go over the inlet and outlet pipes on your intercoolers, when I did mine I put a cable tie on each end, like you would a
jubilee clip to stop the inner tube slipping off. then just pump it up through the tube valve and test for leaks with soapy water

All good info but I still think the money would be better spent on a remap or something else for the time being, if the intercoolers fail again I will seriously consider Wagner.

Bump for this to save starting another thread.

What's the cost of refurbishing a single leaking intercooler? It's dark across the bottom third of the fins and there's a little puddle at the bottom, in the shroud.

Is this likely to have caused any damage if it's been like that for a while?

Are you any good with spammers? If you are it will cost about £20 and a couple of hours. I would say most OEM inter coolers had been leaking for a good time before being spotted. Best do them as soon as you can though.

I presume you meant spanners. No; absolutely hopeless. I would be getting it fixed by a local garage.

At best it'll be a Heath Robinson repair that may or may not last. Get some Wagners if you want to be sure.

Leaking intercoolers lead to turbo damage and cat poisoning.

What Shopp said in my opinion. STUPID money for Wagner intercoolers but unless you are chemically cleaning the intercooler and flowing solder etc over it to repair, I think it is a wasted exercise.

When the front is next off Wagner's are getting slapped in to mine and shrouds if I am feeling fruity.

Good to have options. Shame they are all in the USA. Negates any cost advantage when you have to pay transatlantic shipping then 30% VAT & duty on top of all that. :(

Once you've paid all that you could have got the waggers which aren't made from 2nd hand bits.

It really irritates me that Audi made such a poor part (or allowed to be made) and then *didn't* improve the design when it quickly became obvious that they were substandard but instead chose to carry on pedalling the same old junk.

Like the DRC. Fool me once shame on you.

Tis a shame the Wagners are sooo stupidly expensive. Mine still made good figures on the rollers on oem intercoolers, Doug was suprised by it.
