My new Beast
My new Beast
Hi everyone,
Just got myself one of these beasts. She is on a 2000 plate with 45K miles. Picked her up for £32000. Reg X464 GEP. Does anyone know her ?? Does anyone have any tips / advice on steering vibrations. I get a slight vibration through the steering and seat when approaching 70mph and it dissappears at approx 105mph. Had the wheels balanced and alligned - Tyres are fairly new too . ??????
Cheers Chris

Can't say I know that car. Did you have the wheels checked to see if they were round?

Personally I have stuck to the soft 'safety' wheels. There were reports of the harder ones bending too. Not sure how many wheels I've had, but probably around the 20 mark.

Me too. I quite like the fact that Audi give me a new set of wheels every so often. And so far they've not quibbled about a couple of minor wheel scuffs (I know, shame on me).Personally I have stuck to the soft 'safety' wheels
I've also heard of the harder wheels bending. Also lots of people with TTs have had their version of the 18" 9-spoke wheel bend.
Cheers, Richard.
Funny you should say that Richard, I've scuffed a couple of mine. Rather than shell out for a refurb I've been thinking the best plan is to intentionally drive into a couple of potholes. So far, they've stayed obstinately roundMe too. I quite like the fact that Audi give me a new set of wheels every so often. You never really learn to swear until you learn to drive.

As far as I know the wheel "Goodwill Warranty" was pretty much limited to the UK.

Have you tried a different company for balancing?
Reason I say this is because true balancing is not acheived by continually adding more weight to the side that the machine say's it needs to go on. A GOOD balancer will shift part of the weights from the initial reading around the rim to acheive balance wih minimal weight attachment.
Try to find a garage who are Pirelli approved as one of their staff will have been on the pirelli wheel balancing course
Too much is bad.
Plenty is better.

Had a go with 3 different companies !! The last one I tried was recommended by a mate with an Aston DB7 Vantage. He took his car there and said it was the dogs danglies !!! The did a wicked job to mine - They didnt have the RS4 tracking setting so they used the S4 setting insted ... Seems to have improved loads ... Still going to take car to Audi's to see about these new hard wheels
