Well a few years over time but indeed it was a crack in the cilinder head...a very tiny one from the exhaust valve to the sprak plug..

What was the cost of repair! What made you remember to update the thread after 4 years?

Good question really...I bought me another B5 RS4 (had one 5 years back) and was searching for some specific info when I saw this forum again...wondered that it looked very familiar to me..

But I couldn't log in with the nickname I normally use.

After a deeper search i found out the name I used and asked a new login code... ;-)

Cost of repair was around 3000 euro's with the use of 2nd hand RS4 heads...if this would happen to me now I think I would use NA 2.4 heads.
