WOT HE SED! I don't see how on earth they can write it off based on about £1330 of repair work.

[quote="Mr Footlong"]

The Brembo pads have potential and bite pretty well after the heat builds in to them but they are still world's apart from the XP-10 pads. Now that I am not running any disc guards at all, I am really tempted to get another set just to see how stupidly good this uprated set up could be. I might just stick sensible hat on and drop down to the XP-8 pads though.

Mr Footlong - I've always tried to replace my discs/pads together as getting as good a contact between the two surfaces seems vital. You've obviously spent a lot of time and money on your recent brake upgrades, so was wondering if you had any concerns about swapping pads out, particularly if XP10's/8's are in the mix ? Given the sheer stopping power they provide, they're clearly very abrasive and would therefore assume they eat discs far quicker than OE (or even fast road) ones.
What with the bleeding etc., you obviously want everything to be spot on - Just interested to know if you had any thoughts about discs+pads being a matched pair ?

Nick, have you considered getting from Goodridge braided hoses?

Already do Shopp, had those fitted from the first trip to MRC if memory serves.

Rossi, as much as I would like to swap discs at the same time as pads, when they all cost as much as this I simply can't justify that. The 10's have scored up my old (I say old but they were on the car for 10 months and did sub 4k miles in that time I think) discs but I still think that disc guards played a heavy part in that as the cooling on the inner disc is simply not there with that in place.

Sure, understood
It was really the cost element of (potentially) scoring/wearing your new discs with aggressive race pads that got me thinking, and if this would stop you from experimenting with different pad manufacturers and materials.

Perfectly. Discs are doing exactly what they should do, stop me time after time with no fuss, no squeeking and confidently. Good bite which increases a bit the longer that you have your foot on the pedal when shedding speed as heat gets in to the pads. No screaming etc, they just work. Still not a patch on the nutter XP-10 pads on the old 8 pot calipers but most definetely a worthwhile upgrade.

I just need Bam and Ceveman73 to both get theirs on and start putting some miles on them to see what they think.

As for the car, I think that my driving style is starting to take its toll a bit on the front steering/suspension. Got a few little clonks when turning the steering wheel from side to side from straight ahead, get a little clonk when moving off from a standstill from what feel like the back of the engine/gearbox tunnel area. I really want to get all the bushes etc on the front ripped out and replaced with new but god knows when I will have a chance to do that.

Mmmmm - http://dreamdetail.co.uk/blog/highly-modified-audi-rs6

Bloody annoying having the RS4 now as all I am thinking about if what to do to that and not what else I can do to this car. With it pretty well becoming madam's car, I find myself thinking about it even less :(

The question is; which one would you take on long trips and one would go to ADI?
No matter where you go, there you are.

BOTH will go to ADI dude, would be rude to leave one at home non? The buckets in the 4 are breaking my arse in now it seems, I am not constantly squirming around in moderate discomfort, only intermittent squirming now.

The 6 would probably do all the long trips as she is better all round bar handling but, after going back to buckets with the scoob and now these, I feel like I am sliding all over the place in the 6 seats.

I love the CS Sportsers, I can drive more than 4hrs without any discomfort but anything more than an hour in the Recaro 'Comforts' and I'm constantly adjusting myself. Yeah, agreed, any spirited driving in the 'Comforts' is difficult compared to the Sportsers.
I'd love to fit the B7 buckets, they just look so fexy.
