Autocar tests tend to be less based around how an 'advanced' driver would enjoy it and more about how a normal day to day driver would get on. I think after the recent criticism of the b8 rs4 based on this, it should be a decent test (I hope)

I sat in one at FOS and then again yesterday at castle Combe, and they're really growing on me
Looking forward to my drive at Millbrook on the 24th and I'll make my mind up about ordering after that

I've semi prepped the mrs that it might be a 997 turbo and keep the B7 if it comes up short of my hopes, but something tells me I'm going to love it. I'm purposely leaving bank cards at home on the day :)
-------------------------------------------------------
Gone - 11/06 B7 RS4 Avant - black/black (Daily drive & kids taxi)
Gone - 05/13 B8 RS4 Avant - Suzuka grey (Daily drive & kids taxi)
Gone - 01/14 B8 RS5 Coupe - Short term car
Gone - 09/14 B8 RS4 Avant - Misano Red/Ceramics (Daily drive & kids taxi)

Current - 04/18 B9 Rs4 Nardo Grey
ZX10R Race bike - 210bhp and a few skid marks on the seat ;)

0-60 4.4
0-100 10.3
Test average 19.8mpg

Category results (out of 5 stars)

Design and engineering 4 stars
Interior 4 stars
Performance 4.5 stars
Ride and handling 4.5 stars
Buying and owning 4 stars

Overall 4 stars

They even say it rides ok if you select the right settings!

They like :
Extraordinary engine, strong performance
Grip and traction
Mix of practicality and quality

Don't like :
Inert steering
Fidgety ride on some chassis settings
Mediocre fuel economy.

Luckily that is all good enough for me!

Do you happen to remember whether the one they tested had dynamic steering? - I've tried it on an S4 and find it makes the steering feel dead in your hands, so wondering if that might be why...

Sounds like an interesting read though - must get a copy, cheers.

Still, magazines and testers are one thing, but can't wait for next week to see for myself!
