I must admit those arches look great, I'm just not that keen on the lack of bhp and turbos

Yeh I know what you mean but is it really that much better than the b7 + a headache to get much more power, and future carbon probs?

The reviews I have seen (only a couple to be fair) have said that the new RS4 isn't as good a car as the previous model.

Before I had my RS3 I had a TTS. This was a fab car, and I could of course have moved up to a TTRS, but I want more of a change than that - hence the RS3. Have a test drive and see what you think about the driving experience - it will be quite different to the RS4 I'm sure.

The other factor to keep in mind is size / practicality. I find the RS3 perfectly suited to my needs, but then there is just me and the missus. If you have kids or big dogs then the RS3 might not be big enough for you.

I don't think BHP is the problem, maybe torque and where in the rev range it is available from.

Drive one then make your mind up.

I will let you know in a few weeks time after i have driven the RS4 :biggrin2:

The Audi V8 is a glorious thing and the new RS4 looks amazing but I am sure its a different animal to drive compared to the RS3

I really like the idea of one

I have 2 concerns about it, in the real world most of the time you drive on torque, the 3 has bundles of it low down but the v8 is pretty dead below 4k revs. Depreciation is my other concern with the 4 not being a limited run and costing nearly 20k more i suspect it will depreciate more in 12-18 months then the limited run 3 will in 4-5 years

Guess I'm gonna test drive both cars to see which is best for me, if it's the 4 I'm gonna wait for second hand one's to come on the market, just like the idea of something with a turbo with more tunning options

To legal speeds it is quicker! Unless you are on either a dual carriageway or a MASSIVE stretch of open road and doing 3 figures this is by far the quickest car ;)

The thing I disliked abut the 4 was the power low down, it had none, and then all of a sudden at 5500rpm a surge and then change gear. The 3 has so much torque low down, the pull in 2nd is insane! I would say maybe the 4 is quicker past 100 but when can you do that?

I love the RS4, I'm not knocking it, but the RS3 is just so much more "modern" if that makes sense? The DSG box makes it insanely quick and the upshifts are so fast, you will LOVE it!

We went away with friends over the weekend, 4 up (all adults) all with weekend bags. The only thing me and my mate brought home was a hangover but the girls had 10 shopping bags, it handled it with ease!

Best all round car I've had, and I've had a few! Go test drive one, you will leave with a deposit placed............ :)

i wouldnt go that far !

the A3 on which it is based is ancient

personaly, I'd stick with a B7 over an RS 3 ... not because the RS 3 isnt a great little car, but the B7 is special

if you want to change the B7, go for a B8

I concur with Dave. It's a great car, but the tech is pre-historic and I miss my MMI when I'm in the 3. I'd be looking at the B8, though I appreciate the cost differential is rather large!
