BOSE setup?

Post by andy » Fri Aug 24, 2012 9:30 pm

How do you have yours setup? Been playing with the BOSE DAP settings to see if I can find a setup I'm happy with but to be honest I'm not so far. I've had it set with surround off and focus set to drive most of the time but for the last few days I've been playing with the other modes and so far I think surround set to rear, faders set to mid and bass/treble with a couple of points above mid. Seems better to me so I will live with this for a few days and see how I get on.

How do you have yours set?

Anyone changed speakers with aftermarket ones? Amp? Sub? Or are most people quite happy with the BOSE system?

I've played with every setting and still can't get it to sound as good as my old C5 did.

My friend who has an A6 TDI with BOSE swears by surround to max, focus to driver. I personally have the surround to middle, focus to front, bass +1, treble +3.

Had a bit more of a play today, ended up with surround to rear, treble +3, bass centre, balance left 3 and fader centre. Put on some dance tracks and it sounded pretty good to be honest, loads of bass with good control. As my music source is mp3 some of the issues good be down to compression so I will look at the tracks I'm using and make sure I use high bit rate before comparing.

Out of interest has anyone changed speakers or amps in the RS?

The sound system is disappointing in the C6, compared to other German manufacturers' premium systems. I don't rate Bose anyway, their domestic systems have always underwhelmed. I think speakers would be the first step in upgrading.

I just need some time to play with with it all and experiment..

I'm a bit of a hifi nerd with my home system and have never been happy with any car setup. However I think I have the BOSE as good as I'm going to get it now and given that I'm feeding it compressed source from an iPod, it's not too bad tbh. I'll probably eat those words soon but today I swapped around quite a few tracks and most of the time I enjoyed the sound it was making, considering that it's a standard setup in a car.

When I had my B7 I was going to fit Focal speakers as I'd read lots of good reports about them so I may look into this option again if I still am left wanting from the standard setup.
