I have a 37k mile RS4
Kind of expected it to be all hunky dory at that mileage even though it's just had routine work and never been to MRC.
However diverter valve curiosity got better of me so I whipped them off.
First one passed the vac test, (push spring in, place thumb over the vac pipe inlet and see if spring holds, if not it's farked), 2nd one didn't.
Fitted 2 brand new 710Ns and I think throttle response is better not to mention turbos not so likely to stall now which can kill them
So worth checking, not too hard to do just dont drop any clips!

Re: Diverter Valves - same old same old
Which MTM one? Avus, 85k?]
Yes I did buy that one and yes it's mint, the stonechip film is excellent and makes the car more of a keeper in my book.
I had an MTM stage 2 car in 2007 & 2008 and it was good but I am trying to keep this one stock.
The diverters are under the carbon cover at the front of the engine.
To test them you need to remove them which can be fiddly, 1 clip and 2 jubilee per DV.
You then push the diaphragm inside the DV up against the spring pressure, and then place you thumb over the small vacuum inlet pipe on the DV. Then let go of the diaphragm, if you can feel resistance as you release, then DV is OK. If it releases sharply then diaphragm is leaking, DV wont hold vacuum and wont do its job.
The replacement part is 06A 145 710N from Audi and is actually a 1.8T part but works better than the RS4 one - I guess this because 1.8Ts run 1 turbo so the DV needs to be stronger as it's handling more boost. Approx £30.
Make sure you refit them the correct was as they can go on wrong.
