Carbon Fouling

Hi,
The RS4 B7 Buying guide says that it is impossible to check the carbon fouling problem before buying. I wonder if anyone of you have tried to test the car on rolling road before buying? I have read on Polish forum that the affected cars show less power than others.

You'll be lucky to get any private or trade seller to allow you to stick their car on a dyno for all the good it would do you. Best find the car you want and then take it for a healthcheck at somewhere like MRC, Unit 20, AMD, Revolution. If all is well bonus, if not get the work done.

As for the carbon isssue, research it on here as it is has been done nearly to death, little point in another thread about it.

carbon fouling seems like the wrong term. Sounds like the OP thinks that if a car has carbon buildup, it is a bad car. Carbon may be present in every Rs4 on earth (unless it was just cleaned yesterday)...and can be removed effectively with about 10-12 hrs of shop labour.

It's not the end of the world Myrcin. I'd be far more concerned about the chassis being straight and the engine's compression levels etc.

Cheers sakimano, I have read this thread and found it interesting. No worries I will do a proper health check before I buy the car. Hopefully a professional will list all problems and protect me from bad cars.
