Mod decision
After reading all you who have mod there cars in some way over the past few months i have decieded it is time for me to venture into the mods, so i have created a list( in no order) of what i want to do with mine. I am going after a blackish steath kind of look. My car is monza silver with privacy glass.
Please feel free to comment and add if you know of any other products which could help me out.
1, New black front grill and low number plate plus smaller size if the rozzers dont mind.
2, Satin black milteck cat back ovals
3, BBS CH-R in satin black, Not too sure on the size of wheel apart from it need to be 20inch. A bit of help here would be great
4, Re-map. MRC or AMD stage 1. AMD are doing half price remap when you buy a milteck exhaust system at the same time.
MRC have a gearbox remap to help out with the enqine remap.
It is this area where i am really undecided on. I do not have great knowledge on whether MRC or AMD is better or that stage 1 is enough and so should i go for stage 2?.
5, itg filters
6, A good Credit Card with no interest on purchases for months and months.
I have just done the brakes but might upgrade them to a loba or if DK wants to sell his carbons

Re: Mod decision
Can't resist the mod urge for long
My views are;
Wheels are very tricky on the C6 RS6, not many suit and they have to be beefy with a strong concave design. To be honest the standard 5 spokes are hard to beat and the RS5 Rotors also are very good but a little tricky to fit. Many have experimented with wheels and the RS has proved difficult to find something that suits the styling or actually fit properly, some at huge expense!
Black grill surround looks great, I have one on mine
Milltek is probably the most cost effective aftermarket system and the most popular. However the build quality is not always the best and some people don't like the huge back boxes, aesthetically not great. Personally I prefer the stainless finish but choice of finish is obviously a very personal thing.
I wouldn't consider the AMD remap as I don't believe the power gains are worthwhile. My choices would be either MTM from QST or the MRC map with the matching gearbox map also. Split opinions as MTM are twice the price but they have the closest relationship with Audi whereas MRC's are reverse engineered and in house developed. MTM will get you approx 700bhp and MRC can release anything up to 780bhp!! (this was on a very cold day and ideal conditions)
If having the Milltek and possibly filters fitted then stage 2 would be best as its optimised for these mods whereas a stage 1 is suited to a standard car is my understanding.
Limitless credit card with 0% would be perfect
Too late on DK's 'remics and I think you would be in a very long queue anyway

Re: Mod decision
Have you found a good source for the Black grill surround?
Have found a few but they all seem to be in Germany

Re: Mod decision
eBay for the grill mainly but not to sure on whether it's from Germany. Look good though.
Cheers for the re map info. I think mrc will be the one as Mtm is just out of my price league. Thinking stage 2 with filters and gearbox remap.
Also I agree with the milltek about build quality plus the reports on how the ovals hang. One is slightly lower than the other one. Who else makes good systems for the rs6 ?
Off to money supermarket to find a friendly credit card.

Re: Mod decision
My Milltek's used to hang unevenly and the right side started to melt the diffuser somehow. Whilst mine was back at Audi recently for my wheel re-refurb I got them to sort that as they sold me the car with the Milltek fitted. Both hang evenly now. My comment re the quality is due to mine suffering from the one pipe having a lot of the stainless plating coming off around the lip of the pipe exit. I was going to query Milltek about this but then I read their very limited warranty statement on their website which basically says bog off to anyone buying their products so thought better of it.
MTM again are an alternative but about twice the price, they are valved though which adds to the complexity of the fitment as the original system is not.
Sportec also do a system but no idea of dealer or price. Probably more out there but can't think of them tight now.

Re: Mod decision
MRC fitted my Milltek system and it has been perfect since day one, that was a year to 18 months ago.
Another vote for the MRC Stage 2, you wont be disapointed!

Re: Mod decision
Does anyone know where you can get a black grill from without audi rings. Trying to go for a big front grill, drop the number plate to the bottom and only have the rs6 badge on it. the usual auction sites only sell them with the rings.

Re: Mod decision
Just something else to consider/another option ; Would APR be appropriate for any re-mapping mods you require ? I have no personal experience of them, but believe they have good facilities and reputation
Oh, and I would REALLY like to be in your position of owning a c6 RS6, let alone modding it !
Love my C5, but the c6 ....

Re: Mod decision
I think one of the challenges with the C6 is its rarity so not many tuning companies have much experience with them. Die to this I would only trust the select few tuners that have a good reputation with C6's rather than just another map they have knocked up to suit. Ok so that may be a little harsh but the point still stands, MTM apparently work closely with Audi and MRC have a lot of experience directly with this car.

Re: Mod decision
I got rid of front number plaTe surround....and have a small plate......if you dont like the small plate fair enough..but they look so much better with the number plate surround removed IMO.

One more.....its easy done..just unscrew it...it helps that the "honeycomb" carries on underneath it, makes the grille look more "meaty"!!!!!!!!

Re: Mod decision
Have you got a copy of that D_K which you could post as I would be interested in seeing that. Also hopefully not being too cheeky can you photo Shop with the wheels on.
By the way, what your next car going to be. R8 V10?
Not bad chris. Is it a smaller number plate you have or have you just taken the surround off.
