Re: Gearbox again.
After undertaking the diagnostics and clearing the error readings, there has been no further problems. I spoke to http://www.mackie-transmission.com/ who appear to be the most knowledgeable business in in Scotland, but now after 2 weeks and 800 miles, including a trip to the West of Scotland, there have been no further issues.
I'm sure you'll all say that the problem still exists, but I'm not rushing to search for one, as they can be extremely expensive.

Did they at least check the car from underneath? No leaks from the gearbox found?DrB wrote:After undertaking the diagnostics and clearing the error readings, there has been no further problems. Or have they come up with any ideas what could be the problem?
If they are specialist, they should at least suggest something...

Re: Gearbox again.
Yes they did. They will need the car for a couple of hours, approx £150, to make a diagnosis. However, I have not had any more problems recently. I'm going to wait and see what happens in the coming weeks, then bite the bullet and have it looked at if the problem returns... or sell the car!

Re: Gearbox again.
Doesn't make any sense. If it's low ATF then you could avoid catastrophic damage by getting the level checked.

Re: Gearbox again.
Right, so after the warning I got from you guys, I had a thought. At the beginning of July I saw a puddle of fluid under my car. I checked it but did not appear to look like petrol or oil, so I assumed it was from something else. Anyway after the warnings about low ATF I popped over to A for Audi that afternoon (Monday). Andy put the car up on the ramp, took off the undercarriage protector and there was a substantial fluid leak immediately noted.
On Friday there I had the car back with Andy (as he had to order some parts) and he found 2 leaks. One from the sump and the second from the gasket seal. Goodness knows how much fluid was left at that point.
So now all fixed and topped back up and its amazing how different the car feels. The gearbox all appeared in good working order and Andy does seem concerned - good news then!
I had been considering a 'panic sell', but I don't know now. I do enjoy the Beast!
Oh.. it was most likely a direct blow to the undercarriage that caused the damage.
Thanks for the warning and the incentive to get it checked out.
