RS4 anti-roll bar on S4 B6 - part no.?

Post by andywhiting » Sun Aug 05, 2012 10:19 pm

Hello.

Just went to get my nice new RS4 ARB fitted to my S4 at the weekend and the garage told me that I had the wrong one; I had part no. 8E0 511 409 AL but they are telling me I should have ordered part no. 8E0 511 409 AJ instead. Can anybody confirm what the part no. is for the thicker RS4 ARB please? This is costing me few quid and a lot of time faffing around, and unfortunately I dont really have the time or equipment to do the job myself. Was thinking of getting 4 Rings http://www.4rings.co.uk/ to do the job and an oil change at the same time but I don't want to waste their time if I've got the wrong part. Anybody use 4 Rings before, any good? The other garage also told me the car may have an oil cooler seal leak too which I was going to get 4 Rings to look at.

Cheers
Andy

8E0511409AL is the correct part number. AJ is for the B7 RS4 Cab. You will also need the brackets and bushes. They are relatively cheap.

Yep I use 4 rings for everything on my B6.

Dean is very trustworthy and knowledgeable, plus being mobile helps - although for this work he might want it at his garage.

Anyway, you can't go wrong with him, good luck :beerchug:

The main cause of oil leaks are the valve cover gaskets. The oil drops down and maybe the reason the other garage thinks it is a leaking oil cooler

Yep thats the daddy. These are all the relevant bits - note the prices will probably be well out of date. You may be able to reuse some of the widgets

1no - A8EO 511 409 AL roll bar @ £53.77 + vat
2no - A8AO 511 439 Clip @ 4.16 ea + vat
2no - A8EO 511 327 D Y34 Mounting Bush @ 2.44 ea + vat
4no - AN 101 277 07 Z21 Bolt Hex @ 0.64 ea + vat (although can use old one)

That's what I thought. I already bought all the brackets and bushes too, hopefully 4 Rings come back to me and can do it soon. Great car but it is a bit" understeery" isn't it. My RS2 was the same... Must save up for an RS4 I guess.

What tyres you on? Best mod I have made so far was to ditch the Dunlops mine came on (slightly different tread designs and thicknesses front and rear axle) for a set of Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 2s. Now I have the car I always wanted - not just more grip but more feel, more predictable and more confidence

Tyres are awful; unbranded jobs that the car came with. They are unfortunately pretty new so seems a bit wasteful to simply discard but I guess that's my next job.

Do the tyres first, I only paid £145.95 from memory each from Camskill for the correct size 235 Asymmetrics, friendly garage fitted them for cash. The best of the Dunlops still had 5mm left so I kept one as a get-me-home. SO glad I took the plunge and made the change, totally transformed the drive.
