Top 5 B6/B7 mods

Post by R23 » Mon Jul 23, 2012 10:48 pm

So for those who have done some modding, what would your top 5 mods be??

I am thinking along the lines of remap / suspension / arb / poly bushes / sports cat / down pipes / exhaust / intake manifold ...

Cheers!!

In order of what I would do given what i have researched, bit more than 5
2.5" Catback - you choose, Miltek now increased diameter to 2.5", i like the Fast Intentions sound with 14" res
Decatted down pipes - Fast Intentions
Headers - JHM
Intake spacers and mani
Remap = JHM tune seems to get best review
The cosmetics like suspension, K&N yellow, Ohins
RS6 pealers in 19"
Big brake kit, porsche cayenne
RNS-E
Flat bottom wheel
Good detail
Pint of Guiness

depends alot on your budget.. RS4 Rear ARB is always a good start, or if you have the funds go for Neuspeed or Hotchkiss.

get a decent panel filter too.. there are CAI kits available, but opinion is divided if they do any good or not.

on the cosmetics.. maybe some spacers to fill-out the arches, De-tango the lights, RS4 grille, and some RS4 pedals?!?

Agreed No1 mod IMO

CAI work if the front aux rad is deleted. Otherwise they are pointless

Spacers, pedals, LED interior lights, de-tango. Yes.
RS$ grille. No. It's an S4 and leave it at that

My mod list to date is:

B5 RS4 Pedals
B7 RS4 ARB
LED interior lights
De- tangoed lights
LED side lights
Spacers
Gutted front cats
Low flow cats and catback
Re-map
K&N Panel filter

LED sidelight bulbs - stop the yellow sides ruining your gorgeous xenons

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics - transformed the car compared to the lifeless Dunlops it came on
RNSE - a must if yours doesn't have it factory, so much more usable
Milltek non resonated cat back, release that meaty V8 goodness!
RS4 rear roll bar is quite a popular mod also

IIRC the B7 doesn't need the rear ARB mod as that was standard fitment

Supercharger would be near the top of my list :biggrin3:

Most enjoyment everyday - Full Milltek - how it should've sounded from the factory

Most enjoyment on a blast - KWv3's and Hotchkis RS4 bars - balanced and neutral

Other mods are just luxuries.

RNSE is a must.

If I had to choose only one mod - full Milltek

Interesting nobody has yet mentioned wheel upgrades - I imagine the 'original' style 6 spoke and the s-line/re6 style 5 spoke are not exactly light?

Nice to see your generaly opinions are more or less the same (get the handling sorted / let it breathe)!!

liking the idea of the supercharger... :biggrin2:

Correct-a mundo.

It's worth checking ya B6 too cos it's a popular mod and the previous owner may have already done it.

very interesting thread. I've just aquired a b6 s4 and am thinking of mods.

My List are

1. Rear Anti Roll Bar
2. Remap to smooth throttle
3. Audio - its got symphony and bose neither of which i think are great.

Completing the list are possibilities of
4. Milltek (possibly)
5. Suspension - coil overs - KW v3 probably depending on if I can figure out if its going to give me a better comfort/performance balance.

Do you need to fit new resistors with these? I've just ordered a set. I googled some fitting guides and they say use a resistor. There LED's are bayonets and look different though?

Cheers

I ordered them a while back and rarely had errors but I've just installed a replacement set and they're erroring all the time.

No response from UltraLEDS yet though.

Weird. Did you just pop them in without a resister then?
