Still think the B5 looks best (and I have had both).
I don't like silver highlights on my car's bumpers, it is unnecessary and doesn't serve a functional purpose.
Do they have to stoop to these levels because they have prostituted RS styling cues with S line models?

This
The only bits of history being repeated on this forum would appear to be the posts claiming that "people" are finding it difficult coming to terms with the fact that their car's not as new as it used to be...

As P_G and Amar have pointed out the B7 was launched with a whole slew of highly positive reviews, which helped create a "buzz" around the car.

Now, if history was truly repeating around the launch of the B8 then B7 owners would have to be ignoring all the reviews telling them that the B8 is a game-changer and I'm not aware of these existing yet.

I suspect that as people get to see/drive the car for themselves then there may be a whole lot more love shown for it, but until then all we have to go on is a few reviews telling us it's good, but perhaps not as good as the C63 and that's hardly inspiring.

It will be interesting to drive one for the first time. I suspect that a majoity of us will drive it and be blown away with it. The Hacks cant seem to make up their mind so it must be a pretty decent car.

History and recalling it always brings some distortion of true events and how they happened, if you recall when the E90/92 was launched the first reviews were "not quite the breakthrough the E46 was" but fast forward to the last two years and most of the Hacks agree its better than the B7 RS4 and the B8 RS5.

The problem the B8 will have is that the B7 just oozes character and thats before you actually put it in gear and drive off. Once on the move you just cannot beat the supercharger esque whine from the pulleys and internal timming chains and the burble from the exhaust on throttle lift off.

I am sure the B8 will be a better car and five years ago without child when I picked up my gleaming new B7 I would not have been ready for a B8 but I suspect today with a 3 year old child the B8 could be my perfect car.

...so if the B8 is now a bigger more mature car then maybe it all makes sense;

B8 RS4 replaces the C5 RS6
RS3 replaces the B7 RS4
C6 RS6 replaces the Space Shuttle

I'd rather have an RS3 than a B8 RS4 at the moment and I have never lusted for a C5 RS6 so it sort of makes sense to me but then I am weird
