I am absolutely "digging" the seats.. .What a clever idea to do the quilted thing.

The rears are just plain. No quilting on them to match like the fronts.Teutonic Tuner wrote:At the moment I am leaving the back seats as they are, they are in perfect condition so no repairs needed, will wait until the fronts are done and refitted then see if they look out of place. To be honest the rears are kind of generic as the original buckets had perforated leather and the rears don't. Would be interested to see what the rears are like in the RS3 that has the quilted trim.sar wrote:that looks lovely, have you done anything with the back seats to match?.
been thinking mine could do with a little freshen up so would like to know the cost to, pm if you want.

Those seats look great. Like everyone else, I really like the quilted look.
On the seatback, are you using real carbon fiber and overlayering it over the base or is that 3M like vinyl. I ended up using the 3M vinyl on my seat backs because of cost and ease but would have loved to do it with the real stuff.

Re: My Sprint Blue B7 RS4 thread
The seat back (only one started so far) is real carbon cloth. You'd be surprised, the cost of the materials isn't the killer it's the rediculous amount of time it takes to do the job. Alot of people think that carbon parts are over priced but if they appreciated how much time and skill go into getting a perfect result they would understand. I started the first seat over 2 weeks ago and still have about a weeks worth of work (evenings & weekends) to complete it, then it's onto the second seat...maxbhp wrote:Those seats look great. Did you source the new leather from Audi to match the existing leather?
Also what sort of cost is it for the hide from Audi if you did
cheers

It's called 'Car leather S0834 colour anthrazit matallic' and is a perfect match, may even be made by the same manufacturers.

Re: My Sprint Blue B7 RS4 thread
Seatbelt harness trims are complete

The seats however are now at the body shop being finished with a final coat of clear lacquer. I was hoping to be able to finish the seat backs myself but epoxy resin doesn't seem to like being finished with any of the cutting compounds I have and even a finishing polish I got specifically for gel coats doesn't want to play ball so I bit the bullet and handed them over to JRM Coachworks for a perfect high gloss finish which will also give them UV protection to stop the resin yellowing over time. Hopefully by the end of next week they should be back in the car and I’ll be able to drive it again…

Re: My Sprint Blue B7 RS4 thread
Picked up the seats from being lacquered and finally got them re-built so took a few pics before going back in the car

Laid the carbon weave so each seat looks like a mirror of the other...

Weave flows perfectly through the side panels...

Tried to eliminate as many 'creaks & squeaks' as possible with Alcantara & fluffy tape on any trim parts that come into contact with leather...

Hopefully have them back in the car over the next few days
