Advice on a disrespectful neighbour

Ok, so I live in London, and deal daily with people who fail to respect other people's property, which I have come to accept as a normal part of daily living in this city.

HOWEVER, regardless of how I have had word with my neighbour regarding using my car as a "parking locator", I am at my wits end as to what to do next. After approaching them on many occassions now about damage to my car and the paint it shows of theirs on my number plates, they deny any wrong doing.

I have thought about CCV, but honestly, what is the point, when the result is some paint transfer that is certainly less to repair than my excess, and more about my frustration that they think it is appropriate to damage (albeit superficial) to other people's property. Thier <beep> box is certainly not legally on the road (rear bumper tapped on with gaffa), and lord know why they think it safe to travel with two kids in the back of a car that is clearly only good for crushing.

So, I'm open to any and all suggestions about how to "legally" convince these punks that it is not a good idea to continue to bump into a park using my car as a stopper? I have had many conversations with them, with absolutely no result but a simple shrug and "I may have bumped your car, but there is no damage".

What worse is that the lazy gits park like this, then do a 7 point turn to get out and travel in the opposite direction, all whilst using cars on the other side of the road for bump guidance, just to save driving 300 yards to the other end of the street. Some lessons need to be learnt here I think.

Rent a garage or don't live in London is the best advice I can give. Bad neighbours is tough, we moved house (partly) because of ours.

Wish it was that easy Phil, certainly considered it, but just not practical in my circumstance unfortunately.

If I were ever to have a rental car, I know who might not be getting their car out of the street!

Brett, I know you don’t want to do the CCTV thing, so feel free to tell me to where to go, but personally that is the way I would go, and tell them that you've put the camera there, which should stop them dead in their tracks. If it doesn't, take the evidence to the Police with a log of the time/date that each incident occurred and demand they do something about it. Have you still got the CCTV camera you got from me? Research CCTV, as if you want to take someone to court over it (not saying it will go that far) the image needs to have a certain accreditation or watermark on the video/image in order for it to stand up as evidence (I believe).

I had the same problem a few years back.

My next door neighbours (dedicated) parking space is next to mine, and my prestine Corrado (two years ago) was being used as a door stop everytime she pulled up and got out her car. After several dents on the door line of my car I had enough, so I calmly had a gentle word ...... needless to say this esculated into a screaming match to the extent where she accused me of being a racist

Anyway, to cut a long story short, she wouldn't admit to it and my Corrado still has the dents, but we still talk and we have both forgiven and forgot. From my point of view at least my car is no longer getting the dents.

To be honest I know it was her but theres no way for me to prove it, it made me feel better having it out with her and essentially I just came to the conclusion life is to short to have beef with someone whom you live so close to. I have got over it and so has she and life goes on.

Not sure how that helps you other than to let you know your not the only one !!

You can't win in a confrontation. At best they'll ignore you, at worst they will do it even more just to piss you off.

If you can, then live with the bumper rash. Put it down to part of the cost of living in London. You can always get the bumpers painted when you sell / move / decapitate the neighbour.

I have it on my current car and also had it on the last one (full front protection plus the doors on my TTS). 80k miles of driving without a ding or scratch. If you can't change the neighbours, you need to protect your investment.

Tow bar!! Park it so the space is left only to the rear of your car, then laugh when they smash their car up on it!

- Document the damage
- Repair the damage and retain the receipt
- Log a small claim on-line with your CC
- Have them served
- I bet they don't show in court
- You probably won't get your money back but,they'll have to run or reimburse plus court costs
- If they run, win win
- If they don't pay it's a CCJ on their name
