Game changer?
Just saw that MRC have the S4 at 435-450 as a stage 1 tune!
This is great news though means the b8 RS4 is possibly not as attractive as it was, well certainly for us who live in gaga Audi pricing land. I know I'll be looking a lot closer at an s now.

Re: Game changer?
The MRC B8 S4 has really surprised me. It does 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 11.8, using no launch control. That is quicker than a 750 BHP C6 RS6. I believe you get this engine in the C6 A6 too, and not being an S/RS model I reckon it will depreciate quite a bit so will be a great buy in a year or two. The S4 needs to look a bit more aggressive, I bumped into DK the other day and he said you can fit an RS5 grill, should make it look a lot meaner, I'm fact, you'd think the B8 RS4 grill would go on too.

Pity it looks so bland, great figures though.
Re: Game changer?
How about the facelift S5 which replaces the V8 with supercharged V6? think that would be a winner! BYE BYE RS5!
Game changer?
That's a good point, the 5 is a good looking car, matches to some silly horses it could be a lot of fun. Presume you can get the sports diff for it too?rs6666 wrote:How about the facelift S5 which replaces the V8 with supercharged V6? think that would be a winner! BYE BYE RS5!
Simple mods making the new RS4 look like a high class call girl that only goes so far while the S4 becomes the cheaper, dirtier and out for more of a good time hooker.

Re: Game changer?
The B8 S4 avant with 5-arm rotors, de-badged and in dark colours (yes, I'm a racist) looks good... the 'loon looks poo IMO.
It does raise some questions though, a B8 S4 MRC stage 1/2 with a sport diff and 18/19s wheels would kick the sh1t out of an RS4... and you get the choice of a manual too, ne?
Now, if you could somehow retrofit hydraulic steering... the B8 S4 would become the semi-hot high school girl that did anal well before all the other girls, it'd more popular than free money.

Pre-FL are manual only
find a Sprint Blue pre-FL (sprint discontinued on FL) with supersport seats, tech pack, sports diff, ADS and you are laughing all the way to the bank

Re: Game changer?
just did a quick search on AT, and only 30 S4's on there, with 1/3 manual and 2/3 auto
no blue ones in manual
looks like £22k - £25k will pick you up a nice manual ... £5k tuning and styling, you've got an RS 4 beater using the same tech and chassis for half the price
erm ....

Re: Game changer?
Yeah, I started looking at B8s when Doug told me about how the B8 S4 tuning was going. I've always thought it was a great platform with the sport diff, Evo loved it.
So options are:
- RS3 (lease)
- B7 RS4 with a SC (private)
- B8 S4 MRC'd S-Tronic/Manual (private)

With baby bam the SC B7 or B8 are surely the way to go?bam_bam wrote:Yeah, I started looking at B8s when Doug told me about how the B8 S4 tuning was going. I've always thought it was a great platform with the sport diff, Evo loved it.

Just to bring a degree of practicality to the situation

Does the S4 FL use the same DSG box as the new RS4? Just wondering if a FL S4 could handle the extra power it's capable of.

Re: Game changer?
i dont think it does, only because I found the DSG on the S4 to be crap compared to the TTRS and RS 5 DSG's

Re: Game changer?
I've just put mine up for sale and I'll be very sad to see it go. Have had it since Jan 2010 and it has been completely perfect in every way. It still feels and looks brand new. If I were keeping it, I would go down the MRC route and I originally bought it with that in mind (hence going for a car with sports diff and manual). I have gone to the dark side though with a GT-R so no longer need the S4.
The B8 S4s will be total weapons for years to come and at a very reasonable price.

tbh, I'd got B8 mate
B7 is great, but interior and tech is really dated now and putting a SC will cost £30k inc the car ... 420PS in a stage 1S4 S-Tronic will be very quick and with the right options, a very uptodate car
