The Supercar Event - Dunsfold Park (Surrey)

Not sure if this should be in the Trackdays & Meets section, but as it wasn’t a trackday or meet as such have stuck it here…

For those who haven’t heard about this, it was held this weekend (23rd/24th June) it’s run to raise money for The Children’s Trust charity – all drivers & marshalls volunteer their time free of charge. It used to be called “Dad’s Day Out” (which is pretty apt I think) and it’s primarily a chance to see a huge gathering of supercars in one place, and get the opportunity to have passenger rides in some of these around part of the Top Gear track, if you want to pay for the privilege.

It’s only £10 per adult entrance fee for the whole day, and then you have the option of just wandering around or paying extra if you want passenger rides etc. There’s stuff for the kids too – bouncy castles, fire engine rides, kart rides, hovercraft rides, helicopter rides, etc – although if your kids aren’t interested in cars there’s probably not enough to keep them entertained for a full day.

There are also displays from various car clubs (Phil T – an opportunity for RS246 in the future?), skid pan rides, Caterham drifting and other bits & bobs. Link to website for more info:

Back to the most important bit though – the cars. We went on the Sunday and there was a good selection of exotica blasting round the track or parked up in the pits for people (me included) to drool over. Plenty of Ferraris, Porsches (a GT3 and a couple of very fast 911 Turbo S), a couple of Gallardos, various Mustangs, Vipers, a couple of Ariel Atoms & even a DeLorean! No RS’s on show although there were three R8’s that I saw – 2 were V8’s I think (one had been modified by Stasis with a big wing on the back) and there was a white V10 which looked great. Got excited for a moment as thought it might have been a forum car (Nudenut’s) but then saw the registration & realised it wasn’t.

Highlights for me though were that in the afternoon all running at the same time were a Ferrari Enzo, an F40, two McLaren MP4-12C’s, and a lime green Aventador! But despite all of that, my favourite was a dark blue Lexus LFA – looking stunning in the metal.

I’d recommend this as a great day out for car enthusiasts, and maybe we could try & increase the Audi RS presence there next year?! It’s all for a good cause too remember. Here are a few pics I took on the day…
