Manor Cars

Post by rosssavage » Tue Jun 19, 2012 11:24 am

I fancy a bit of a change. The RS has been loads of fun but 2-3 years is about the most I can do before I start looking again.

So have been thinking about an S5. I'm in the area this afternoon and there is one for sale with Manor Cars. I call them up:.......hello, I'm interested in the S5....okay....can I come and have a look this afternoon.....sure, where are you?.....London.....okay, it's black is that the colour you wanted.....umm yes I can see it is black from the pictures.....if you come and have a look will you be putting a deposit on it today....I don't know, that depends if I like it.....well we only want people to come and look who are willing to put a deposit down.....how will I know if I want to put a deposit down if you will not let me see it......well last week we had 4 people come and look at cars and we heard nothing back from them.......oh right I see, so you are looking for 100% sale rate, makes sense......also with these kind of performance cars I don't want people coming down just for a bit of fun......I OWN AN RS6, if I wanted a bit of fun I wouldn't test drive a S5, I'd drive a Veyron.....well if you call me next week I might be less busy and be able to see you......yeah do you know what strangely that won't be happening, you are a sad strange little man(I didn't say that last bit)

un-f**ing-beleivable

now I've calmed down a bit I realise how brilliant it was. I should have keep him on the phone for longer just for comedy value.

I bet it's a really nice S5 as well :knob:

Knob deserves to go bust. I hope he does.

I remember one dealer who had a great attitude. Before a test drive he would ask for a £50 deposit that was immediately refundable after the test drive. He said is was amazing how effective it was at weeding out the time wasters.

The S5 is his 2nd most expensive car. He's a dealer in bangers. Forget it. An S5 will leave you wishing for turbos. If you want a change, I suggest a S5 is too similar, but less performance.

I know what you're saying but I love the look of the A5. What would you suggest?

The wife said she would chip in for a Porsche 993 but I've had a 964 and that is an expensive pastime. I might be able to stretch to an RS4

Maybe it's because I don't like the A5. Just looks dull to me; I prefer the cabriolet, actually, but the S have a stupid V6 in them. :audibash:

The RS4 is good, too. Makes the right noises. Fairly quick. Again, you'll miss that lazy turbo push you get from the RS6 and the RS4 will feel slower, even if it's not. The interior is just like the C5 really. No great evolutions there.

If I was to stay in the Audi range I would fancy an RS3, but I suspect they are overpriced - not that I've looked. It's the engine I love in those. Maybe a TTRS would tick the right boxes. Don't think I could bring myself to own a TT, but I can conceive of other people liking them, and that engine... :boots:

It's a tricky one. I looked at M3's before I got the 6 but far too many of them round here. Like you said I think that sitting in the RS4 would be pretty much the same as the 6 and might wind me up

I bet I'd really enjoying driving the TTRS but need a bit more room than that and I'm not a hairdresser, yet

I think Ross Savage would make a terrific name for a hairdressing salon. Consider a change of career?

What about a GT-R?

I like the RRS. I'd have one of these for pootling about in, but you'll be disappointed by the performance, even though it's good for a car that size.

The GT-R is not too in-yer-face in dark grey / black.

What about a Scooby? Brilliant fun, but nasty inside.

I used to really want a Scooby when I was younger, just feels like it would be a bit of a step down after the 6. Although a guy on my road has a sti (sexually transmitted infection) and his looks and sounds quality
