Thinking of selling

Post by jonno1 » Thu Jul 01, 2004 9:04 am

I am considering selling my S4 Avant. Its an unmodded Ming Blue "W" reg (2000), has done 56,000 miles, has standard (i.e. non Recaro) leather seats, BOSE, cruise, just had the 60k service and has FASH (it has no sun-roof, SATNAV or other such delights) and is in good nick. Its got a few scratches here and there on the body and alloys but nothing that Chipsaway couldnt handle. Any ideas as to what would be a reasonable asking price?

Thanks
JonS

no way?

I brought my 2000 S4 in January and paid 17k
ok its got recaros and sunroof but i thought that would put £500 - £1000 on the value of the car MAX

has the prices gone down that much?

Thats depressed me. Payed £17k for it in January (albeit from a non-audi dealer). £5K depreciation in 6 months. Its not a ford!!!

Have decided to keep it anyway. Nothing else will carry the wife and baby daughter around and all the stuff we take everywhere now and still put a smile on my face.

May go for the AMD stage 1 mod now......

Saw a new S4 Cabriolet yesterday. Some tw#t had stolen the passenger side mirror!!!! Design wise it really does not stand out. Just looks like a regular cab with an S4 badge. A bit disappointing.

Well, I know your not planning to sell now, but parkers (not the best place for prices) reckons your car with 40k would fetch £16,500 but real world price I recon you could get £15,500 for it!

I bought mine S4 2months ago, its a T plate, but a 2000 spec not 99 I paid 13k, the car is a minter, and well kitted out, with Recaro Silver Silk Nappa, Sat Nav + TV Tuner, Cruise, ARm Rest..... but has done 65k

Glad your keeping the S4, I mean what else would you get?

Agreed, they are a great car, I sold mine ealier this year.

Didn't mean to make you feel bad mate, but sadly these cars aren't worth what they used to be. I reckon the new S4 has really battered the prices of the older ones.

You are lucky as yours is facelifted, so worth a bit more, but lack of extras (sat nav, sunroof, recaros etc...) do make them less desirable.

My advicxe would be to keep it, you won't find anyting for similar money that'll compare to it, and I don't reckon the prices will drop much more in the near future.

If you are still not convinced about the way the prices have falled, take a look at RS4 prices, I remember not that long ago you wouldn't see one for less than 40k, these days you see a few in for around the £28k mark (albeit high milers) and even good ones go for 33k ish.

No worries, just a fact of life!! Cars are the biggest waste of money ever but they are damn good fun.

ahhhhh! wise words mate.

Everyone here knows that the s4 is the best vfm car you can get.

Just keep hold of it, it's value is nothing, just enjoy it!!

I only wish I still had mine, too many miles though!
