Audi warranty denied?
Audi warranty denied?
This area seems to be covered in depth on American forums but not much info in the uk.
Has anyone had their warranty claim denied due to a modification.
I spoke to Audi Crawley's "warranty guy" as I'm considering an awe or milltek exhaust who advised me that the entire warranty would be void with such a modification. He's talking BS in m opinion. Any thoughts or experience?
Thanks
J

Re: Audi warranty denied?
BS ... I've had many warranty claims in the past few years with various modifications
they would have to prove that any failure / claim is DIRECTLY as a result of your modification
I just had my rear ceramic pads on my RS 6 replaced FOC under warranty

This is why I'm considering MTMs piggyback ecu as opposed to revo remap. I believe once it's removed it's not traceable. Any experience?D_K wrote:

I suspect strictly by the Ts and Cs modifying your car voids your warranty. However there is an element of discretion involved as it will be down to the man in the chair at the dealer.
Think I'll ask the good wife to read the t&cs given that she's legally inclined.

The verdict is in....
If it's in the T&Cs that though shan't modify you are legally feckered. They, Audi, don't have to prove anything. If you've had unapproved work done then legally it's game over. However a dealer may factor in customer experience, brand loyalty etc, so it's not entirely black and white.

Re: Audi warranty denied?
are you talking factory or mondial T&C's?
Audi warranty denied?
Will have a look at both. But if they specify no unapproved mods then they can enforce as they see fit.
Re: Audi warranty denied?
no, not when your talking factory warranty as this is EU block exemption ... Mondial - yes i agree
Re: Audi warranty denied?
example ... customer fits a milltek cat back
gear box blows up
totally unrelated
car is 6 months old
manufacturer tries to void the warranty because of the milltek
I think the courts would have something to say about that
Mondial - I agree, its aftermarket insurance

What do you mean by EU block exemption?
Audi warranty denied?
They would. Warranty states no modifications. End of story. Court sides with Audi.D_K wrote:example ... customer fits a milltek cat back

Don't forget in the world of civil claims here. As a side issue it'd cost you a fortune to go legal beyond small claims.
No different to you failing to tell your house insurer that you've changed your roof tiles from slate to concrete. They could nullify the policy.

you are talking about an insurance product vs. a factory (see statutory) warranty
Audi warranty denied?
It doesn't, it's effectively the same.
Doesn't matter whether you've painted a wing mirror or changed your turbo(s). How does Audi warrant the quality of a vehicle that hasn't been modified by them?
Her indoors argues this sort of crap in court everyday, I'm inclined to take her opinion.
If you could prove a latent manufacturing defect, good luck, but you have statute on your side from a consumer protection perspective.
