Quattro GmbH suspension Installed
Quattro GmbH suspension Installed
ok ok ok, its old news. But i've only just had it installed. Wow, car is MUCH better. It actually turns in now. Highly recommended.
Our roads are not perfect, but not 3rd world either!. Yes its gets a little bumpy from time to time, but overall acceptable. Defn worth the compromise in ride quality for the improvment in handling.Golich wrote:How are you roads over there?
Do you find the suspension "crashy"?
The OEM suspension left me somewhat disappointed. Now i have a smile on my face.
What's the quattro gmbh suspension worth in NZ? Did you get it direct through Audi NZ?
Curious to know exactly how much the setup is uprated on the OEM? Particularly, how much stiffer/thicker the sway bars are if you've got the info? Don't know if I'd go the coils, but maybe the sway bar... my front spoiler only just clears my driveway now.. and that's with a couple of 2" planks.
Wouldn't be many RS4's in Nz would there and only silver? I heard most of them ended up in Oz.

quattro GmbH does not have a web site.
on the subject of roll bars - fatter is not always better, in fact the more rigid the roll bar the less the suspension is able to function. Very often, the trick lies in the balance between the front and rear anti-roll bars.
If you ever get the chance to crawl under one of the original Sport quattros that were rallied, measure the thickness odf the ARBs - you will be surprised, but these are the most tossable cars Audi has ever produced.

It cost about $3K NZ. Its 20mm Lower, and slightly harder. I WILL NEVER GO BACK ! SO MUCH BETTER !don wrote:What's the quattro gmbh suspension worth in NZ? Did you get it direct through Audi NZ?

As for RS4's being rare in NZ. We got 34 cars. More than AU I believe! 50% are Silver, the rest in other colours.
Via your Audi Dealer. Just make it clear that its a Quattro GmbH part, Not Audi (even though Audi own them).borice wrote:Umm... ok, then how do I order something from them?
Is there an office in Germany?
Give them this to help.

What you need to fit is YTX from the schedule above, it transforms the handling. If you upgrade the brakes, the saving in weight will improve handling as well.don wrote:ok, I know the quattro gmbh suspension is very good but I know it's slightly lower and if I want to maintain the OEM ride height are stiffer sway bars the answer to improve handling?

I thought the same. But so far, no problems at all. In fact, my A4 180 Sport (b5) with bodykit probably has more of a problem than the RS4.don wrote:ok, I know the quattro gmbh suspension is very good but I know it's slightly lower and if I want to maintain the OEM ride height are stiffer sway bars the answer to improve handling?

there are two vastely different ways of measuring spring rate, so Lotus needs to amplify that statement - its true for one method but not the other.quattroturbo wrote:The secret to a good ARB balance is for it "not to exceed 50% of total spring rate" according to Lotus Engineering. If it does, that is when it interferes with suspension independence leading to unsophisticated or unresolved handling - i.e. see most Japanese, American and Australian cars.
As a matter of interest, an RS4 owning friend, who drives over bad roads went with the rear anti roll bar upgrade only and is delighted with the car's much more neutral balance.
