see a grey audi avant up front

looks wide

looks mean

mmmmm....must be a C6 RS 6

put my footdown to catch up ... yup RS 6

the do look mean on the road

I agree a C5 has a great road presence, espcially when wide and slammed like Darth

but I honestly think a C6 has the same appeal, BUT its a grower and doesnt instantly hit you

You forgot to say it is 15% more fuel efficient too, DK. This is according to Stephen Reil, he headed the project and devlopement for both the C5 and C6.
I can give you an example: the RS6 from 2002, 450 horsepower, V8 twin turbo, and now the new RS6. We have an increase in power of 130 horsepower and we have an increase in torque of about 100 Newton Meters but the average mileage, fuel consumption is 15% better than on the former car - this thanks to the FSI technology

Yeah, it hasn't got the original 'omg wtf' reaction I had when the C5/B5 were released, but no Audi today does. This has all the things I loved about the B5/C5. Two turbos, rare (rarer then the C5) stupidly ridcoulsly quick, wide etc etc...

Wouldnt touch warranty direct with a bargepole. Every single aftermarket warranty provider is not in the business( crucial word) of paying out to keep renewing parts on your vehicle. Their interest is your money and their profits.
Where does this leave you..

You need deep pockets if you really want a c5 rs6 otherwise its manufacturers warranty all the way and that means more upfront as you`ll need to buy a newer car..either way you cant get a 450hp car onto the road and keep it there cheaply.
She may be big and heavy but its whats on the inside that counts.....

Well, we all agree that the biggest cost is depreciation. I prevoiusly owned BMW 320D (yes, diesel...) coupe, which cost me £22000 when it was one year old. I bought it on credit, had it serviced, 2 sets of new tyres (£175 a piece), brake pads, disks, etc...I loved the car to the bits. I part exchanged it for £9500 4 years later. So all in all I lost approx £4000 every year, not counting fuel,tax and insurance, although they were quite cheap. It has never failed, very reliable car, never had any issues, apart from odd rattles in the cabin and some broken vents on the dash. But then in winter, it was a different story, I had some really scary and frustrating moments with it as it is RWD
Now if you buy an RS6 C5 you can have a new gearbox for £5000 and you sould be OK for few years with it. Bilstein PSS9 £2400 inlc fitting. Or you can repair DRC for how much? £3000-4000?
What I am trying to say, for the cost of depreciation on the ordinary (say premium) car you should be able to keep RS6 C5 running and at the same time should have same change left for petrol.
Or am I wrong?

Only thing is, when you need a new box for example, it usually is a few days affair, so you may need some spare clunker to cover that....And that's another cost.
And tell me, what is better fun, driving an ordinary, new car, or 450 BHP rocket-monster from Germany, altough 10 years old?

hi all, heres my pennies worth, i had there top cover on a 55amg merc and they wouldnt even pay
out for the wing mirror motors when they packed up, waste of time and money.

most cars are depreciating assets, your original question centred around worries about things going wrong and how you can be sufficiently guarded against dipping into your own pockets.. Ive got an inchcape warranty and just spent 3.5k at MRC, not a single thing covered, granted that a lot of work was preventative but i dont like driving ticking time bombs.

Yes its cheaper to purchase but costs that dwarf any others are
a) Insurance
b) fuel
c) parts

Yes a gearbox is 5k and bilsteins 2.4k( a bit less imo) but I own more then one vehicle and thats how MRC were allowed to have it for 2wks because as youre aware theres more that can go wrong/need repair/maintain and its not cheap

A newer car will have more things that can go wrong that wont cost you a penny(a comprehensive warranty) to maintain but the cost is upfront..it really depends on how much you want an an rs6 that is at best 7yrs old. My advice would be slush fund as i dont think inchcape covers cars over 100k.

I`m possibly going to be looking for a c6 at the moment as I saw a suzuka pearl with titanium alloys and i think that combination may mean I forego my hatred of ebrakes
