I find this very strange, I've done 5 hrs driving at a time and not had problems with comfort - I used to get problems in my old S4 on long journeys, but with the RS4, slight adjustment of the lumbar setting every now and again and I'm all good!

Are you abnormally tall/short??

i am 6ft4in and have long legs but have driven many many cars and have never had the same problem. The car took 11hrs to drive home from Bayern to Nottingham and I noticed the problem within minutes of setting off.I have adjusted the seat every conceivable way and it still causes problems--odd I think!

I did suffer this on one trip to work. I lowered the back of the seat base so I was driving with my bum lower to the floor and legs bent more, and haven't suffered the same problem since. I do have the lumbar wound out a fair way, and do adjust it once in a while on a long drive.

The seats defo aren't as comfortable as the newer S4 recaros (IMHO)

HTH.

cheers,
John

Mine are fine but I spend a lot of time to adjust it (then the service guy just moves it again)

I find the curvature of the lumbar area of the seat causes my shirt and trousers around the belt area (i.e. lumber area) to bunch up and I frequently find myself arching backwards to relieve this. My biggest discomfort is with the left bolster. I find after a while it hurts my left side ribs as I seem to tend to lean towards this side of the seat. I'm not sure if thats a combination of my FAT wallet in my right rear pocket. (Aye - Fat but not with money) and the fact that the gearstick and arm rest is on the left. Its either that or years of fractured ribs!!

I'm not impressed with the Recarros - Sure they look great, but I'm glad I didn't buy them for my last S4 like I was seriously considering!

Like the B5 S4 seats and for that matter all the Audi range of the B5 erra I found them far too wide for my medium frame. This in combination with how firm they are results a seat that you don't sink into and therefore provides little or no lateral support until you slide up against the deep bolsters.

The other major flaw in their design is the lack of lateral support further up the torso i.e. at your shoulder level.

Interestingly as JohnW says the entire Audi range of seats including the new Recarros are all narrower and also the profile of the Recarro around the shoulder area has been enhanced to produce exactly what I noticed was wrong with them from day one.

If I can ever afford it (now that I am a house owner) I would like to swap my recarros out for the new ones.

But back to your problem. Again I'd go with JohnW you have to spend some time playing with the seat to get comfortable. Also a feature some people are not aware of, which will undoubtable benefit the taller amoung us is the ability to extend the leg support section of the seat. I find this helps tremendously for long journeys. It can be a bit of an obstruction for getting in and out of the car and I typically leave it in for short journeys. Try that.

Did you say fat wallet i thought it was just your fat a#se. I don't realy have a problem with the seats i find the veay comfy and supportive. as to the new recardos n the B6 S4 they are no inprovment on the old sport seats i had in my B5 S4 but i have only driven it on a test drive so can't comment on them for comfot on a long haul.
or is there an othere recardo seat apart from the real bucket jobs JR's got (i'm refering to the shape of the seat not the overall style JR  )

ha ha ha you are the first bloke in fact person to say I even have an arse let alone a fat one....Hhm I think you're spending to much time in Holland and offshore M. Broon

Now you have confused with your comment on the B6 S4 seats. A salesman told me they come standard with recarros now.

First glance they look identical to our Recarros but the seats I sat in definitely felt narrower and were more sculpertured around the shoulder area?
