Tips for replacing BPVs?

Post by ajsl » Tue Jun 08, 2004 8:08 pm

I'm about to replace my 710 BPVs with the 710N version, more for piece of mind than anything else :)

Any tips or other advice before I start?

Also, is my car (Mid Year 00W saloon UK spec) likely to have an F-hose?

Cheers.

It's an easy job. The only thing to be carefull of it droping dust or parts in the intake system.

Best to fill the wholes with some jitchen role or something similar whilst you are working. Just make sure that pieces of kitchen role dont fall inside.

Yes, I think your car will have an F hose

Also take the opportunity to check the DV hoses for any signs of degradation. Don't worry if there's a bit of oil in either.

Also whilst you're at it, it would make sense to remove and inspect the TBB.

I also recommend inspection of the intecooler pipe connections, but this is a bit more involved.

Thanks for the tips guys.

After checking AudiWorld, does anyone have a UK source for the clamps I'm going to need?

Vagparts for OEM, or Demon Tweeks for other. Then again Halfords does that sort of part too (clamps are not specialist parts really...).
