Well, couldn't help myself but get the car tuned.

okay it only got 439bhp but weather was warm and proabably suffering a bit. Torque 474 lb ft @ about 3800 rpm. (don't have exact figures). Which starts to tail off gentley. I was told it was wheel spinning/slipping on the rollers.

Also got the camblet done. Found a cracked intercooler which was the only downside and replaced at over £600 inc fitting, ouch.

On the road, OMG does it pull: oh yes  and the exhaust note has a nice rumble. Couldn't really give it large due to rush hour traffic driving home but be warned this could be easily a licence losing mod  :P

yep, Miltek exhaust with hi-flow sports cats.

Exhaust scraps on those 'pyramid' speed humps. So will be going for height adjustable suspension next as I'm sure 20mm drop for the quattro gmbh suspension kit will be too much.

John, I see your replacing the merc - what with ???
I thought the merc was a keper for the summer, or is it not what you hoped it would be ?
pm me if you'd rather not discuss it on list mate.

Cheers, :beerchug:

Yep am changing it this Friday but loverly weather has made me think twice. In truth its too much of aq Grand Tourer for my liking and even though the engine is a peach it is just too heavy and complicated for its own good.

Have been reasonably lucky as only had one problem with the speed sensor on the rear wheel but roof has started creaking but think that is just a case of a bit of lubrication. On the other hand have only done about 2K miles in it. Think the car has far too many gizmos and electronics which not only dull the driving experience but can cause an enormous number of niggling problems.

Will be picking up a new M3 CSL on Friday and managed to get a fantastic deal as dealer wanted to get it out of the door before end of June. Will be a totally different driving proposition from the SL but looking forward to it.

Glad to hear its not going due to bad experiences mate.
Can you imagine the sorts of potential problems there'll be with that car with all them motors & bits in say 10 years time ...

CSL eh - yum yum :beerchug:
I'm not really a beemer man, but can appreciate the appeal of a CSL.
Can't wait to see it. How about taking it to coombe in July :biggrin2:

As for Armourfend - I expect your on first name terms with them all now :D

Dave,

That price on Iain's car was when myself, JohnH & JohnW had Armourfend fitted on the same day (group discount). We didn't go for bonnet bit as it would leave an obvious line across the bonnet.

Also if Armourfend come to you, you will have to add travel costs. Which might be a fair bit if they come from their hq near A10/M25 junction

cheers

Kenny
