cost of new brake pads

Post by drbru » Tue Mar 27, 2012 9:28 pm

OK so after 2 years of ownership my first warning light has come on

Looks like I need new brake pads...

Can anyone give me an idea of how much Audi would charge for this...Lets assume worst case scenario for all for including labour?

THanks

OEM pads about £330, if you need discs you can add another £386 for rears & £470 for fronts plus labour.

thanks...

Ive been doing some digging around and it seems that there are quite a few people here who would recommend EBC yellowstuffs which Im leaning towards...

I think ill actually source them myself and then get them fitting outside of Audi

Am I right in thinking that they have wear sensors?

In addition, I also read that they may need modding to fit...Whats this all about?

Cheers

EBC's would be about £230 for fronts and rears all in. They do have wear sensors and no modifications required so long you get the right ones, just plug and play.

EBC only have wear sensors on the fronts but the recommendation is to change the rears when the fronts tell you they need changing, which is overkill.

I've had the YS on mine for a few weeks and there seems to be a lot more dust than I had with the Mintex ones that were on before, braking seems better but I don't know if that's due to new pads combined with new discs.

There are no sensors on the rear

No I don't think they do, the EBC rears come with sensor cables but there's nowhere to connect them!!
