I own a B7 Rs4, and have driven the Rs3 on a nice open and curvy road, the 2 cars are far apart, the B7 has way more cabin space and you can feel that when you sit in the drivers seat, the Rs3 still feels like a A3 on the inside... straight line performance off the line the Rs3 is quicker but in gear acceleration and overtaking the Rs4 feels faster.. The handling is the big one, the Rs3's steering is not very involving if on the heaviest setting, just feels like you turning the steering wheel, and doesnt respond that quickly.. the Rs4 you can feel the corners and road through the steering wheel and is a much more involving drive, and you have the confidence to put your foot down in the corners.
Dont get me wrong the Rs3 is a great car, and is a little pocket rocket, which I would love as a daily drive in traffic and for those short bursts where I need it...
But as a weekend car get an Rs4 it will make you happier :-)

I've just bought a B7 RS4 recently and beleive me, there are no decent ones with low miles for £20k! £23k will get you a good one, expect to pay a grand or 2 more for sub 30k miles and a warranty (like mine).

Sports cars will always drop in the Winter but remember the RS4 is a little bit special and will retain it's value well.

The RS3 on the other hand............................... on a new one you'd shed nearly the price of an RS4 in 3 years :biggrin2:

Just to add, on the RR Sport front, I sold a TDV8 HST to get the RS4. Cracking cars but very uninvolved to drive and I was bored after 12 months :( I put some 22's on mine and my wife refused to drive it in case she kerbed them ;)

2.7 RRS is woeful, 0-60 sometime this year and only a few mpg better than the TDV8!

Happy to answer any questions you may have should you go down the RRS route :)

If losing hefty cash os an issue to the OP then im afraid an RS3 is going to bin alot more hard earned than a b7 RS4 but thats the price you pay for buying a nearly new car.I like rangeys and hope to have a used one alongside my RS toy in the future, your in an enviable position and whatever option you choose is hardly going to be hardship lol

Thanks for reply guys.

Think I'm going to stick with new order on rs3. Give me total peace of mind with it being new and some of the problems I've read on here about the rs4 drc(is it??) it has kinda put me off it!

Still got 3 and bit months till I collect mine so I have time to decide what to do if my mind keeps changing. Haha

they said they can find nothing wrong, they however changed the front pads (and i suspect skimmed the front discs) to fix a brake squeak i had, the audi tech yesterday said brakes could cause a vibration

i wanted to check if this also cured the brake binding i had on cold start (for 20 feet) and the way the car would randomly jump 4 feet to the left when braking hard as thou the inside front pad was grabbing before the offside one

I wouldn't let DRC put you off, of all the ones that did have issues the redesigned shockers have had zero failures so all you have to ask when buying one is the service and warranty history on it. If not available with the car find out which dealer did most of the woprk on it or call Audi UK as they'll have the history on file.
