One RS4 owner going to Switzerland to work. Wondering if anyone from there would like to meet up sometime. I will be working in Berne for at least 6 months. Once I get an apartment there I will be looking at shipping over my baby.

Especially as Sportec are based over there.....

I NEED MORE MODS....

:D

Good on you, mate! Give DonRS4 a shout, he should be near Bern quite regularly. As for shipping in your joy and pride, I'd consider the following
1) Car imports are reasonably protected in Switzerland - hefty tax
2) Switzerland is over-supplied with RS4 (no less than 400 were imported), thus low price and still factory-new models

Have a look at http://www.elite-zuzwil.ch and http://www.autoscout24.ch

I agree with feelou: you will not have any problems finding a decent RS4 in Switz. I bought mine 2 months ago from Elite-Garage in Zuzwil (black, no mods), they currently have 27 RS4 for sale. So far no problems with mine... fingers crossed.

http://www.elite-zuzwil.ch/docs/audi_rs4.asp

This dealer is specialised in exclusive sports cars and he made a very fair deal for my old car when I switched to RS4.

Not sure whether there is an "organised" RS4 community in Switzerland, I guess you will not find too many RS4 around Berne but loads around Zurich (that's where the money is, mate :D ).

If you have any questions re. Switz - let me know, maybe I can provide some help.

Hi, where in Switzerland are you going? I agree there are many RS4 over here about 1/4th of the whole production s been sold in Switzerland, and now there are also import cars from germany.

Is it really possible that up to one quarter of all RS4 ever built are now registered in Switzerland? That seems a bit unreal...
:?: :?: All the more, too funny that there seems to be no RS4 community in Switzerland, or am I missing something?

By the way, a Swiss newspaper reported today that Switzerland intends to massively increase the penalties for speeding. Starting in 2005, having more than 35 km/h above the speed-limit on a motorway (which is only a slow 120 km/h) can send you for up to 3 years to prison plus cost you up to 40,000 Swissies.
:bash: ...no more Gumball or Cannonball Races through the Swiss Alps, I guess!

Oups didn t see you mentioned Bern... I m from the riviera (along leman lake) it s an hour drive from Bern, so maybe we ll see you at some events we organize in Switzerland. Next WE we re going to luzern, about 25-30 Audis.

@ianw: Too bad, one of our members bought a misano RS4 3 days ago... And he wanted that color only... I fear maintenance is a bit expensive for me... But maybe one day if I find a nice Imola or misano... ;o)

hmm 3 years sounds a bit harsh, maybe its time to move country, or hope the swiss protest.

cls3, car is under warranty for another 11 months and that is renewable. servicing isn't too expensive either

Actually think I read around 1500 were sold in Switzerland. Small coutry yes, but very special market... where S3 if far more common than A3, and the A3 were mainly 1.8T and 1.8T quattro, and I guess most new A3 are 3.2 and 2.0TDi for now as there isn t much choice. When I tested the R32, the vendor told me they hadn t been given any quota, while sales in GB, France were limited to something like 200, Spain 150... Cayenne turbo are quite common over here also... So I wouldn t be too surprised if this figure is true.

Regarding de swiss RS4 community, thing is it s probably harder in a country where you have 4 official languages... and no tracks! I know mainly the french speaking part of Switzerland and we ve many RS4 owners in our club, many of them are also here. But for now we haven t organized any RS4 specific meeting.

@ianw: well thing is I notice I ve the S3 for less than a year and already nearly 35.000km, so services come faster, and on an RS4 belt is every 60.000, plus the insurances are somehow higer for the RS4 than for the S3+924S together! Too bad, I like that car... So you ve got car life + on your car? I fear I d be tempted to go to hoeri (Sportec) and then then the car life warranty would probably vanish... Stop tempting me! lol

re imports to switzerland, I was told when I first arrived that there were 400 allocated to switzerland, then I got a phone call to say germany didn't want all its quota so they will bring another 300 in and did I want one. Thats when i ordered mine. They are certainly two a penny, I see four or five a week (and I am not in Zurich), yet i have not seen any for over a year in the UK on my last visits.

I expect that the figure of 1500 may be correct with all the unofficial german imported cars.

cls3 - not car life the other one with the key, and the garage I bought it from said they would mod it for me and then I guess they would keep it under warranty. To be honest though dont really want to sell it, thats why I have only advertised it here, but I just don't use it so maybe it would be better in a new home.

Actually on a 25km trip every morning and evening between montreux and lausane it s quite usual for me to see around 4-5 RS4s and 1-2 RS6s, 0 A3 1.6 or 1.8 and 5-10 S3s lol.

Aaaahhh Montreux

Post by feelou » Thu May 27, 2004 2:11 pm

Aaaahh Montreux, Lausanne. Push it further East and you will hit Martigny, Sion, Sierre, and the beautiful natural race tracks towards Verbier, Nendaz, Crans-Montana, etc.

That sounds like a good idea for a meet. Best time is January, low temperature, high compression factors. Mmmmhhh.

As for the number of RS4 in Switzerland, I would tend to think that 1500 is almost reasonable. There are currently 150 RS4 on sale on www.autoscout24.ch, maybe 250 in the country. Assuming that one RS4 in 6 is up for sale does not sound unrealistic.

Switzerland (through grey imports) is usually one of the first countries to receive S and RS models. Have you heard anything on the next RS4?

Been in Cyprus for a couple of weeks. I will arrive in Bern tomorrow morning.

A meet sounds good to me once I am settled.

Not sure now that I will be bringing over my baby just yet. I will probably sell it and buy another in Switzerland if the job works out and I end up staying for any real length of time.
