FYI, could very well effect your track car if it needs an MOT.

Last point on exhaust will be a PITA for all you modified cats owners if your station sticks to the letter of the law.

Re: MOT changes 2012
What a joke, there's no way dedicated road legal track cars are going to be still able to pass an MOT after this.
Surely there's some common sense here. If it's obvious that that parts have been changed correctly for a purpose rather than faulty OEM you would hope it passes.
EG: If someone's fitted a new steering wheel, roll cage with buckets and harnesses, technically it's going to fail on:
"It must be possible to secure the driver's seat fore and aft adjustment mechanism in two or three different positions. On electric seats the motors must move the seat fore and aft."
"A seatbelt pre-tensioner fitted as original equipment but missing or that has obviously deployed will be a reason for failure."
What a joke! You can't be replacing all that when it comes to MOT time.

My MOT tester will pass fixed seats under the new regs as long as they are well secured. He is a racer and takes a common sense approach.

I believe cars can be tested as "track car" and have it annotated on the mot certificate. Not sure how true that is.

Re: MOT changes 2012
Only applies to cars when first MOT is due after April 2012.
So just buy a car which already has an MOT and use that.
Easy

I love drag racing and track racing. I have had many fast cars and below is a short list of the ones most memorable.
MR2 Turbo REV2 (standard) > MR2 Turbo REV1 300HP> MR2 Turbo REV3 450HP (Nick Name Biscuit tin) > Celica GT4 ST205 WRC 300HP > R32 GTR 425HP > Honda Integra DC2 (standard) > EVO GSR 300HP > R32 GTR 450HP
Now on the hunt for an RS6
