GT3 for sale
<70k huh, mmmm. These are serious cars for serious people, 180 UK MK2 RHD cars available, unless you get a high mileage track day ruined car I think you will struggle.
Then again, you could buy mine....Basalt black, 2.5k miles, ceramic brakes, lthr buckets, CD, climate, centre console, stainless kick plates, top tint. However, you will need to up the offer by at least 10k....

Avoid the Ceramic Brakes like the plague. There's an article in this months evo about them. You could easily end up with a £27000 replacement bill. They crack because the air ducting into the wheel arches isn;t enough to cool them down. Porsche are offering Steel to new buyers, with Pagid yellow pads - owners say that these are much better in terms of feel and last longer than a few months. PCCB is a big no at this stage.
Zero Drama
Having had lengthy conversation through AFN who supplied my GT3 WITH PCCB I think this is another one of those situations that is being taken largely out of context. Of course PCCB is expensive but it is racecar technology and if you have such technology it shouldnt be abused, you abuse it...it breaks..it breaks and its expensive.
These brakes should be used correctly, gradual heat build up rather that idiotic stamping for last minute braking, the idea is they dont fade not that they they are invincible. I have been to GT3 track days where cars are screamed off the line when cold, brakes are stamped on when cold...it isnt surprising that things break. Most of us warm our cars up properly before unleashing them? Same should go for ceramics.
I remember the RS4 bendy wheel issue and how that caused a noticeable slump in used prices (I suffered here), strangely the pricing recovered such that the RS4 is nearly as expensive s/h as it was over a year ago. I, for one, wont be giving away the GT3 because some idiots think that very expensive brakes should be invincible....
The GT3 is simply one of the best cars produced by any manufacturer, ever, and an EVO (scoobydoo magazine) article doesnt affect that.

Evo do tend to let themselves down from time to time, and they seem to operate a policy of never retracting a statement, which when made in a hurry often turns out to be wide of the mark.
Think I would take the ceramics, but pop a top notch set of Movits on anyway 'till selling time.
Goo on mah sun. It can join mine at Guidos in October

John,
Not 100% sure, but they are available as an option on the GT2, 996 TT and more recently the C4S, they are all the same diameter, so I figured thay are the same - Porsche do tend to stick to a caliper/disc combo for as many cars as they can (I guess it saves on development costs).
p.s. the PCCB disks fitted to the GT3 are 'only' 350mm - for some reason I thought they would be larger than this?
p.p.p.s the Carrera GT has 380mm ceramic disks.

Wowzers some heated response
I have been reading the reports on this issue for a while now, it is not the PCCB itself. It is the PCCB combined with a 911, which just doesn't have sufficient cooling for that type of disc. I have been looking for a 911T and PCCB has been a topic on my mind.
I'd love to be able to tell my mates I have Ceramics, but really it seems that on a 911 that is all they are good for. Braking performance is better in terms of feel and reliability on the steel discs with the Pagid pads. I'd rather be worried about a £2k disc replacement every 30k rather than an "oops I braked in the wrong way to avoid that child who jumped out from a car" costing me £27k, even at the $10k non porsche sold online price I'd be upset.
Look officer, I am really sorry but I was just warming my brakes up properly...
No braking system is invincible, and AFN are going to say it is all okay! Audi tried to tell us all that the wheels were okay! The steely system seems bulletproof after a number of years development. I bet porsche cool the arches more effectively in the 997 and PCCB will be great!
If you have PCCB great, just keep an eye on them cracking - don't risk your safety.
