OCD moment

Post by luffenham1 » Sat Feb 18, 2012 12:30 am

Me and my OCD is getting along fine with the new rs6 but there is one part I can't get clean. I think the previous owner never cleaned the exhaust pipes so they are all carboned up especial around the bottom lip. And the top part is turning slightly yellowish. Has anyone got a product or technique to get them clean and sparkly.

Hey

Had the same thing with mine, took aaaaaagggggeeees to get it clean, I used Meguiars NXT All Metal Polish, and it worked well, just took quite a few applications.
From what i have heard the Meguiars Hot Rim All Metal Polish is meant to be even better then the NXT version.

Now i just have to give it a wipe with a cloth every day or two. :kissmyrings:

But if someone has found the one true magical product i am keen to hear about it.

The polish is good for making it shine, but to clean that <beep> off you want some wire wool and some oven cleaner. After its clean, polish it with NXT.

That's odd, any carbon crud just wipes off mine with a wet cloth.

I would be a bit wary of that approach, I tried it on my S5, and it worked, but at the same time dulled the chrome finish. And I could never get it back to as new look.

I use Megs NXT Metal Polish, and give the pipes a clean inside and out every single time I wash the car. For baked on carbon, I recall people have mentioned Autosol before?

Another for Autosol to clean and then Optimum Metal Polish to shine and protect. If really bad Fairy Power Spray then polish.

Went for autosol. Great product. One side is like brand new and the other needs a few more applications
