Not really bothered about the look of it - you dont see that when you're sitting inside. I'm disappointed about the power, 444bhp and the same torque - not enough difference to make me want to accept the £7-50 the dealers will offer me for my 06 Avant.( A faultless 61,000 miles, one careful, happy owner)

Also, I like manual gearboxes - maybe Im getting old. These flippy-floppy things leave me cold.

Ah well, guess I'll wait till the next one with the 4.0 turbo.

Wish they hadnt badged it RS4, its 7 years on from the B7 and only another poxy 30 ish bhp with virtually the same motor (so should have been 4.0 turbo), bet its heavier too.

IMO its wasnt worth pushing the b7 prices down / watering down the badge :audibash:

Supercharge the b7 for me next i think, give it a few years :FIREdevil:

Think I'll just go crazy-mod on my b7. It's disappointing though, I really thought that Audi had an opportunity to rectify the mistakes they made with the RS5 - ie. fit the 4.0 V8 turbo and flare out the arches, lower/more bodykit. Maybe the saloon will look great when it arrives but the avant leaves me a bit apathetic. I would have thought this might stabilise our prices a bit, the cost of one of those is likely to be 3 times what mines worth now and I bet my performance is similar as that HAS to be heavier. Does it have 3rd gen DRC?

Car Magazine says: ''Chassis-wise the RS4 Avant sits 20mm lower than a regular A4 Avant, and it’s also 20mm longer and 24mm wider thanks to the RS4-specific bodykit' - not really seeing that extra 2.4 cm strangely enough.

Miss - when's the b9 out?

When I first seen the RS2, the B5 RS4 and then our marvellous B7 machine; they all had the wow factor look. IMHO, this car falls short of the mark.

Hopefully it will drive drive better than it looks...

Unlikely, Audi have gone back to suspension setups that lack precision and generate nothing better than terminal understeer.

Saw this on the front of Autocar so bought a copy. I actually quite like the car & it has flared arches, oval exhausts etc. so looks to me like a "proper" RS. Interior is also much more up to date as is the SatNav, LED headlights etc. 7 Speed DSG box etc. CO2 & mpg were also usefully improved.

However I agree that it hardly moves the game on & doesn't make for a compelling upgrade/way to send 25-30k to me either. If you have a B7 you would be disappointed as quite similar but if you don't have a B7 & do have 55k then I can see it being a very good car, and if I were in that position I would certainly have one.

Seem to remember B5 owners saying the same thing when the B7 was due for release lol

I want to see one with SS+, Daytona Grey and black optics with RS5 19'' rims. :)
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

yup most B5 owners still hate the B7

it does make me laugh thou as most of the haters are in a position to purchase a brand new RS 4 no matter if it had a triple turbo W18 engine running 2,345PS
