Well that question prompted quite a range of responses... Pretty much sums up the nations extreme of views on SUV's; the irony being your name on here hey marmite.

I had a look at Cayenne and RR before I bought the RS6, that range of cars are all very similar in my opinion, each with their particular differences, and hey, you takes your choice and there nowt wrong with that. Of similar cars to RS6, there's a relatively small group of vehicles to choose from, I really struggled when I decided.

Fair play to you, those beauties certainly defy all realms of physics... you need to get some picks up here quick smart. When I posted the question, I was half expecting you to say Panamera given your work. The interiors are a pretty fine place to be in both Cayenne and Panamera, albeit the exterior rather split by opinions (have certainly improved with the years), but you aint looking at it so who gives a damn...

Couldn't agree more about the X6 above; I love the Dakar rally and the cars on that are truly awesome, and the X6 is pretty much a dakar style car, but it's such a niche vehicle, with such limited appeal I really can't see it lasting the distance.

SUV's seem to be becoming much more accepted now that the pleb muppet public have finally dawned that they aint the sole CO2 creator of moral and ethical doom of society. The key aspect to RR's for me are the sheer volume that are stolen to order, lovely motors to waft along in, as long as you have the Holland and Holland version with extra guns.

Sorry DK, don't want to piss on your chips, but the Q5 is some 2.5 inches shorter than the A4 (S4 in your case), so you've got to expect it to be smaller inside. Loads of passenger space, but I like the A4 Avant boot better myself. True they're a little wider, but overall footprint on the road is smaller than the current A4.

A Q7 on the other hand is longer than a full size Range Rover (but handles better on the road).

I for one cant abide the hateful things. Porsche should stay with what they were good at and stop bringing out these awfull looking add ons like that saloon piece of sh*te. At least you have retained an element of speed in a Cayenne but I suggest you will tire of it quickly. Im not sure there is any of these fake 4x4 things that are any good iMO nowadays they mostly look hideous and serve no purpose but I except the tech inside is superb but put them in mud..... . For me if your going to get a big 4x4 then go for a RR there is no comparison! I had a mate over last night who works for BMW and he was desperatly trying to sell me a X6 !! I nearly hit him over the head with a bottle of wine! What a pointless piece off crap that is! The only beamer chelsea tractor I would even partially consider is an X5 ..and then Id need to be pissed and move to London.

If you've driven a Range Rover you'll know what a spongy, slovenly horrible mess they are. Also their actual engineering quality is S***E.

The Cayenne is an amazing piece of kit, and the sales of it has ENABLED Porsche to continue making Sports cars. Porsche would not have survived the 90's being a one-trick-pony, so it's the SAVIOUR of Porsche!

I take your point and of course your opinion but come on you cant tell me that a Cayenne is an attractive purposeful piece of kit? It is the ugliest thing I have ever seen on the road .... well nearly Yes it has a Porsche badge ( whoooopeee ) I think it has devalued the badge by the additional volume and uglyness not saved it but none of these cars/trucks are made to hammer around the Ring or in fact go anywhere apart from school runs, shopping trips and off road. If your buying one for power and pace you've landed on the wrong planet. I agree the RR used to be a spongy floppy and was a down right dog on the road but I believe it is a lot better now than it was in the past. It has pedigree, superb interior comfort, ride height and demands respect from all others because it does look the business compared to the q7, Cayenne and X6 ( X5 looks better nowadays IMO) But heres the thing there is no equal off road!! I have spent many hours in lots of luxury 4x4's off road and trust me you cant get near a RR or Land Rover at this level. Surely this is what these things were made for primarily and therefore if you cant do that that it registers them as pointless.

I do agree on the looks but I have the face lift model which is far nicer then the orginal model.

I do like the Panamera but it is only a 4 seater which is no good to me.

I love all the 504Bhp of the cayenne, it has not got the soul of the RS6 or the noise(BUT miltek on order).

I wish I could have kepted both, but unfortunatly the thought of the mrs using either car for the school run, going GYM or to supermaet sent a shiver down my spine.

Drive is so different, but after 2000 miles you got to take your hat off to Porsche, it handles a dream, very fast and can get the dog in the boot(only reason I sold the RS6 was the boot).

I am pleased with it which is the main thing!

Mine is the fast lift version so better looking then orginal.
I like it my taste can't be that bad for loving the beast for some many years.

Suspesion is great and has got PDCC fitted which alows it to corner very flat with very little roll, 21inch rims and all the toys.

Mrs misses the RS alot

No I left Porsche in April last year, was from the Trade and cheap.
But moved on after 6 good years working for Porsche UK
